Bubble cloninng....

My past 3 weeks have been terrible. I have been struggling with cloning, and i have come to the conclusion. FUCK ROCK WOOL.
I don't care how much success you get with rock wool cubes and cloning gel. I tried it, it didn't work. Its just too hard to control in my opinion. Over water under water, misting too much not misting enough, Ph, type of gel, air bubbles in the stem.
The list goes on on how many things need to be right.

If any new kids out there who like myself are having no success try building a bubble cloner, you can for under 20 bucks.

Here's my bubble cloner i built it a week ago and only add water a lil hydrogen peroxide and change the water every 3 days or so. After a week one cutting showed roots and others are coming soon, I can feel it.

Anyway on to the cloner......

Supplies:

  • 4 inch airstone
  • small air pump
  • any sort of squishy foam you can cut
  • tupper ware (tall and narrow if you can, my airstone fits diagonally in the bottom if i push it in and it sticks there)
  • bottom of ocean spray juice bottle, i'm sure you know the kind there everywhere, i think the size is a half gallon/2 quart.
  • airline tubing
How to:

  1. cut for holes in the lid, about a half inch or so big size need not be perfect so use a knife if you want
  2. cut your soft squishy foam into blocks that fit tightly in the holes but can be pulled out. (mine are a material called wud they use it to make toys)
  3. drill holes in your blocks and cut a slit from one end to the hole so you can pull stems out sideways
  4. poke small hole for airline tubing in the side of tupperware and run the pump->tubing->airstone into the tupperware and put the airstone in the bottom.
  5. cut the bottom off your ocean spray bottle, the top of the tupperware should have similar shape and size. use this as a dome for your cuttings. People say you dont need a dome for a bubble cloner but i like to keep mine in my veg area where theres constant airflow so the dome just blocks the wind to prevent excess respiration.

Now onto the pictures........

P.S. forgot to mention its sitting on a heating pad on low heat, no timer. i don't check the water with a thermometer but it feels nice and warm

very nice. yeah i did the same way pretty much.. i got tired of trying rock wool because the results myself were longggg. so i said f it and just threw them straight into the hydroponic system and they show so much better results. and less of a stress. nice little rig.
