1st grow. CFL --to--> 400watt HPS. have questions.

i was woundering if anyone can help tell me if im ready for harvest. my grow closet is 4.5 x 2.5 x 8 feet. 400watt hps/mh. soil. 2 gallon pots for all 3 plants. pro mix seperate 2 part liquid nutes for veg/flower. also use monster bloom. all 3 plants are female, bagseed. 2 sativa & 1 indica... so basically my 1 indica and 1 sativa have been in 12/12 from seed and are 6 weeks and 2 days old. they look great n are doing well. its my other sativa that was vegged for 1 month with cfl than got the hps and started flowering. its been in 12/12 for 13 weeks. surprisingly the main cola is going to take longer than the lower buds cuz 80% hairs are still white. as for the lower regions there are lots of visible trichomes and is extreamly sticky. 65% of pistils have turned dark amber, the rest are half turned and milky white.(already harvested 1 branch and got me high) i dont have a magnifier for detail looks. can anyone tell me if its ready for harvest? (lower half). pics below. help is apreciated thnx

thanks but it cant be 4 weeks. every morning more pistils turn brown. im not gona wait too long or the thc will begin to break down and become less potent. i think im in the "1 week" time frame right now where i should decide to harvest now to 7 days away (lower branches only) for peak potency. am i correct? any experienced indoor growers have opinions?

They look like they're about half way done. Hasn't finished the initial growth spurt. In a couple of weeks, you will probly notic most of the pistils go red/brown. And after that you will see new grow with fresh pistils as the cylaxes swell foro the final couple of weeks. From your pics, it looks like all of the pistils are still white and that none have changed. The trichomes are the best way to tell when they are finished. You stated you dont have anything for maginfication, but your camera seems to take decent pics. Make sure the camers Macro setting is on(usually a flower symbol) and get the camera as close as you can while still keeping focus. with a little playing around, you should be able to get a couple of shots close enough and in focus. Just view them on your pc, and you should be able to zoom in enough to see how the trichs are doing. This is easy to do and only gets easier with practice. Otherwise, radioshack and many online stores have 30x microscopes for cheap. It is worth while to have one.

that guy isnt really off. You have some time still, definetly more than a week. Unless the pics you put up are from weeks ago, all of your pistils are white, and are semi-irrelavant when determining if your plant is done. I have had plants with all of the pistils bright orange, but the trichs only 10% cloudy. Took for weeks after the pistils turned for the plant to be finished. Thats why they are somewhat meaningless, until you have grown the strain several times and you know what the pistils look like when the plant is actually done.

Here is a pic with a good example where you can clearly see a mix of white and orange pistils. Makes it even easier to see how yours are all still white.

thanks for the help. im just getting worried because of the fact ive worked with a couple sativa outdoors where it was the type of strain to not have many visable trichomes. i still really do hope there is 2 weeks max left cause i cannot spend any money on pot and im in the middle of getting my medical license. im going to have to harvest another branch in a few days for some smoke... anyways i did have the "Macro" option on but still hard to get a very good close-up. im pushing 14 weeks here.. plant is 16 weeks old
btw... i like ur integra name lol i used to own a JDM eg civic with a b16a motor swap. sadly i had too let her go lol ima big honda/acura fan

One tip a lot of people dont realize, is you can still zoom in macro, usually you can get about 18" or so away and go about half way on your zoom and get really good closeups. the Key to getting them to turn out right is bright light, you can still tell trich color with hps on, and keeping the camers as steady as possible. rest your elbow on your knee or use a monopod.
On a side note, I'm a Honda guy myself. Got a 96 Integra with a jdm H22A out of a prelude Type S. All kinda boltons and a 100 shot spray. Still have mine, but as always, working on it still. Cant ever seem to finish them.

i will have to try out the camera again tomorrow. its hdmi n everything but its a video/photo cam. a polaroid hd. has 5x optical zoom. i hope to harvest this plant on exact timing like i read in gorge curvantes book. early morning is best... il post some new pics tomorrow n hopefully get better results n answres.

and btw thats crazy! lol h22 in a teg! nothing beats vtec + Turbo. literally lol ive seen videos over n over of hondas smoking vipers/corvettes/mustangs... top 3 badboys lol

Yeah, I was going for something more unique with my motor swap. I plan on I have had a nice Turbonetics kit picked out for a while, but haven't had the funding to get it. If I ever do, pulling the whole motor for a low compression rebuild so I can run some real high boost. But all the shit I want is gona run me like $10,000 which is hard to come up for when its just for the toys.

so i tried my best to get some close up shots of the trichomes but i cant believe how still you have to be with the cam. its hard... most of the trics still look clear. the one that looked dark were the ones on and around the amber pistils... weird tho cuz the branch i harvested last week gave me a buzz for an hour or more. not heavy tho... if anyone can help me determin an estimated time till harvest? i dont believe its another 4 weeks. buds have grown and swollen up alot already. main cola is going to take longer for some reason.mind you this plant had early root rot and roots torn apart during transplant into 2 gallon. its now rootbound also. been through hell but shes a beast lol ive used pure sugar cane on 2 watering so far and my last feed was a week ago. im flushing now. i just bought some molasses. should i use this? im for sure going to give it too my indica. she is blooming very fast. pics are below of my 1sativa-almost ready / any 1indica & sativa-still have time. help apreciated thnx

i think you still got at least 2 weeks man sorry, but your plants look great gives me hope for mine, i just a 400 watter and in 2 gallon pots, i cant belive those are only 14 weeks old

you got a while your trichs are just forming. thats bagseed for ya usually sativa flowers like 9-11 weeks how far r u?

i know my 1 indica and 1 sativa still have lots of time. it was my other sativa ( You should be able to tell by the pics ) thats going to be ready soon i was questioning about. shes 14 weeks into flowering. i just wana make sure i harvest when most potent. il take more close up pics once a week for an update. also should i start using molasses on my other 2 plants? (1 sativa & 1 indica. bagseed. 12/12 from seed. 7 weeks old ) flowers are growing very fast with more trichs each day.
