Some where I have heard 1 gallon per foot of plant height. Some plants grow 13'+ givin the chance too. Reaserch the height of your plants and pot accordingly.

Peace, when I grow outdoors I would add the amendments into the soil when filling in the holes you dug. Foliar feeding the plants as they grow is a bonus, do both perhaps just add 50% of the amendments to the soil, and foliar feed the other 50%.
