I haven't flushed.. I have it in a 5 gallon SIP system and haven't put in nutes since about 10 gallons of water ago. Can you tell me more about rot? Can it be prevented? What causes it? etc..

I had a lot of success on my first grow. I put 3 plants from seed to weed and it turned out great. This time I'm trying to refine the process and I'm focusing on one plant. Here I'm taking better use of the trellis netting. My question is: should I remove everything below the top line? Thanks
