Actually the side lights are Sylvania 20592 - FT55DL/841 bulbs and yes i use a fixture that hangs at the top...mine is actually a 3 bulb fixture and i just have 3 26 watt soft white cfl's in it...my soil was a cheap bag of scotts hyponix which everyone said not to use and as far as strain i have...
