Hortilux bulb. Worth the cash?

What if any difference is there in using an Eye Hortilux HPS bulb and a generic HTG supply HPS, or any other generic bulb for that matter?

Is there really a difference in the yield?

I'm using 400 watts btw.

I think so. I mean we know it works great because its one of the most popular brands, and it will certainly work better than cheap bulbs from a hardware store. I think its worth it considering the value of the returns.

Horti is 55,000 lumens but the bulb that came with the setup i bought from HTG is 55,000 lumens also. A friend of mine told me that I should get a hortilux bulb or else I would be upset with my yield. Anybody vouch for that?

Worth it for sure. I've used plain EYE hortilux, and the Hortilux Super HPS and I think the extra money is well spent on the super hps. It gives a much more balanced, whiter light. The first time a fellow grower looked at my room with the super hps he commented on how "blue" the light was, and asked if that was a MH. I can't say whether I yield more with it, as there was some downtime between the switch and I started all new strains when I changed over. Overall, I feel it's worth it.

Definitely worth it. You get what you pay for. There's a reason they're cheaper. If they allow you to get into growing that's cool but the good ones are worth a few extra bucks.

I at first bought a $30 GE MH to start out... well 14 days of 18/6 later, the fucking bulb died! Just didn't start one morning! I almost shit myself had to do a double take.. DARK tent, but noisy fan running?! :o

Anyway, I had a Hortilux HPS (for flower), and the hydro store was closed... I installed my HPS and was blown away by the quality of the bulb and the brightness...

I dug the 1 day of Hortilux so much, I sprung for a Hortilux blue MH ($120) to replace my blown bulb... wow, a LOT better bulb for SURE.

I noticed the GE threw off a bland, monotone, yellowish/off white light. The Hortilux MH throws this VIVID, deep, blue color... The plants looked way better under the Hortilux

& now I'm sold on Hortilux! I love it.

sr. verde are you using the MH to flower just curious... I'd suggest in a 2 bulb setup a 7200ksolarmax and 3000k sunpulse, or you could do the sunpulse3k and hortilux blue mh (flowering of course)
