Nirvana ‘Northern Lights’ feminised x4. (2 per pot).

“Northern Lights is highly adapted to indoor growing. Nearly all promising modern indoor strains contain NL genes. High flower to leaf ratio, compact buds, good yields and exceptional resin production are all characteristics displayed by this wonderful plant. Northern Lights is a most lucrative plant for the indoor grower. The smoke is full bodied yet somewhat neutral in flavour.”

This is the follow up to my Bubba O Kushgrow. Same methods, 2 feminised seeds per pot, grown 12/12 from germination. In soil, this time with sphagnum moss layer at bottom and sides. Soil is Bonsai soil, very free draining loam based plus perlite.

It’s a small cabinet just a metre square and 30cm deep! 350watts of CFL’s BUT on sunny days they go outdoors under that great grow lamp in the sky J I have had pleasing results this way. I keep the plants short using LST and grow for an average of just 1.5 oz dry per POT, I have found that running 2 per pot is no problem and its relatively easy to hit my modest target this way.

PLEASE don’t post telling me to get myself a HPS is all I ask! I grew for many years with HPS lamps but these days I’m happy keeping it small and using my CFL’s and for small cabinet grows they are honestly hard to beat in my humble opinion.

I will update regularly with pics and explain my methods as it moves on. I’ll add text to the pics where I can for clarity.

Here goes then; Nirvana feminised Northern Lights from those nice people at ‘pick & mix seeds’ so you buy only what you want and no more and you always get a part of the original packaging for peace of mind… great service.

Any questions, or constructive criticism please ask away J Thanks for looking in.

Pics show: The 4 NL seeds and my small cabinet etc. Also a shot of my last NL grow, a revegged indoor plant, harvested then planted out in June 2007, she came back beautifully as you can see and gave me OZ’s of really nice earthy tasting buds by early October. Continually cut back during July/August to hold that bushy shape.

*edit* date on seed pic should be '11th June' !!

Nice, another 12/12 from seed. I'll be following along. Best of luck!
Thank you pabloesqobar, nice avatar :-)

I should quickly explain my methods etc.

Nutrients: Bio Bizz grow and bloom. PH is adjusted down to 6.2.

Training: With 2 plants per pot grown 12/12 from seed I like to simply pull both stems down and round, different directions so they kind of follow each other round the pot if that makes sense! I use LST and keep training until well into mid flower. Finally I let the 2 main tops go for the last 4 weeks.

I know its not common to multiplant BUT I have been doing this for a long time and I'm happy with the results...which I guess is what itsd all about. Below is a shot of my last plant(s) harvested, 2 Bubba O Kush seedplants in single 8litre pot.

Also an exterior shot of my cabinet.

******************************

All 4 NL seeds are already out of the soil and looking strong. Today I will remove the plastic film and raise the pots closer to the lights, photos to follow later.

2 seeds per pot??? why???
Hi,

Simple answer really........ I Can only fit two 11" diam pots in there..... 2 plants grown 12/12 from seed under CFL's dont QUITE gave me my supply, but 4 plants do quite easily :-)

I know some HPS growers will find this laughable :-) BUt I average 1.5 OZ fully dried per POT (ie 2 plants!) and that gives me everything I need... and isnt that what this is all about?

I've done 3 clones per pot too 12/12 from rooting so small BUT again it works just fine with small plants.

Roots are always strong and healthy at harvest, I'd much rather grow 2 plants in 8 litres of soil than putting them each in smaller pots ......... lets face it we all see them being grown in 1tre cups etc on the forums, 2 per pot is no big deal, I have never seen a plant fail to thrive this way personally, they simply 'share' the rootspace :-)

If it works and your pleased with the results then who can blame or criticize your methods? Carry on dude and go forth growing positive results :hump:

12/12 from seed will reduce the root structure quite a bit from what we are all used too. I think a lot of people dont realize that root growth comes to a damn near a standstill when flowering.

Thanks Boneman :-)

And thats a KEY point you make there, I'm growing 12/12 from day of germination here, I would not advice this if I were growing on say a 4 to 5 week veg period when they really whack down those roots.

And I have repotted in flowering (4/5 weeks) in the past and as you say, they barely grow into the fresh soil at all.

Hi again jcdws, I didnt take it as a criticism, just an observation and I know a lot of growers will say dont do more than 1 per pot..... but this way I get to keep them right under the centre of the lights AND on days when they go outside I only have to carry 2 pots out there! They honestly do just fine and if you stick around over the next 11 weeks I hope to illustrate this to you :-)
Thanks for the comments about the Kush plants, heres an overhead shot same 2 plants/single pot, you can see they both look healthy in there together.

MACCLAD ..... you look well organised there :-) 'LemonDrop' sounds nice!

Great to see you document another grow CV.
Was thinking about the 2 pot thing and it dawned on me that mother nature doesn't stick to the rules either does she? She just throws everything together and it seems to work out fine :)
Love the pic of the retriever guarding that monster bush. Bet it was a good Christmas that year :)
Good luck with the grow.

Thanks V12. I will be updating this thread with pics next couple of days but the NL seedlings are all doing well :-) below at day 7 from germination. Agree about the multiplanting, gardeners do it all the time, hanging baskets, herb pots veg plots etc... its never an issue.

Off topic :-) ........
V12, I tried to add a couple of close ups of that little Kush clone I'm experimenting with the moss lining on your forum but had trouble so I'll add them here mate. You can see how shes foxtailing away, and the fresh growth rate is apparent I think. Next 2 weeks should be interesting, you can from the leaf that shes had a couple of issues but thats not holding her back.

Did you say that was a clone?

I'll try and move that site. Guess you get what you pay for there :(

Hi mate,

Couldnt resist taking this today! makes me laugh you know...we're criminalised for growing a few herbal plants for our own use but these bas***ds get away with fiddling hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers cash.... theyre a bunch of bloody thieving hypocrites!!!!

Anyway, got that off my chest :-)

The NL's are at day 9 from germination today so not much to photograph but the next few days I will update the pics.

And the badass corrupt ones will be allowed to simply step down at the next election so they can get the golden goodbye and gilt edged pension rights.
Tell me about it :(

That plant is still going nuts!

That little Kush cut (below) is at 8 weeks & 1 day 12/12 today, (flowered soon as rooted). May as well add pics here to watch her finish. Still pumping out flowers (close up), no sign of slowing down :-) Next couple of weeks should see her pack on some weight.

To return to this thread, 4 x 'Northern Lights' fems by Nirvana, 12/12 from seed:

Pics here taken today at day 11 from germination, [plants numbered 1 to 4).
2 ,3 & 4 are identical at this stage but number 1 has slightly longer thinner leaf. They look strong and healthy :-) Now the fun starts!
