How to start seeds in a StinkBud Aeroponic Cloner
By El GringoLoco

Having tried many different methods of growing including soil, soilless medium, DWC, etc., I found that StinkBud’s Aero/NFT system (http://www.stinkbuddies.com) was by far the best method in terms of all the aspects that mattered to me:

• Ease of construction
• Availability of materials
• Ease of maintenance
• No need for grow medium
• Minimal effort results in higher yields than other methods

When I first built Stink’s systems, I wanted to insure that it would offer a complete life cycle system, from seed to flower. Although I first tried this method using rockwool cubes (old habits are hard to break), I found it a bit of a pain when transferring and eventually had to remove the rockwool, along with half of the root system!

The method of starting seeds presented has worked for me with a 100% success ratio thus far, I hope it helps you get your next batch going without delay!
Items Needed:

2” Square of paper towel (The good quality one works best, although you can also use gauze, cheesecloth, or similar material – I stick with Bounty)
Net pot
Neoprene collar
StinkBud or comparable Aeroponic cloner
Seed(s)
Let’s get started!

Place your seed(s) in the center of your paper towel square

Bunch up paper towel, making sure the opening stay at the top and place in net pot

attachment.php

Cover with neoprene and place in the cloner

attachment.php

After a couple of days, seed(s) should have cracked and begun to show a tap root

At this point you can put it back in and let it get a bit longer (about an inch) before placing it in neoprene, as I used to do, or you can take a neoprene collar, make a small hole in the center to where it looks like this

attachment.php

Then gently place the seed with tiny tap root into the hole, slightly wedging the seed in with the root sticking out

attachment.php

I push the collar down a little further than I usually would

attachment.php

As long as the tap root is sticking out it will get wet and continue its growth

attachment.php

Within a few days the seedling will shoot up and down slowly adjusting itself in the collar. Once the seedling is a few inches taller I will then transplant her to a regular collar for better support.

A simple way to start a great plant in a awesome system!

Happy growing!

Good job El Gringo. I dont like seeds but will have to try this method. Depending on seed price at the dispesary.

i agree those neoprene covers are far superior to the ones i bought, those cells are huge! I like the structure and feel of that material way more.

Thanks got some beans coming from Attitude this week and using Stinkbud system... I will try this!! Thanks! +rep!

Will the Taproot get chocked out by the neoprene collar or is the collar more sponge like than rubberish? Would like to start seeds Aeroponically 1 min on 4 mins off like stinkbud
