DIY Cab, 70% complete

Hello everyone, started building my growcab today and I need about 30% more work to finish it(NO WOOD BUILDING EXPERIENCE, 1ST TIME). I purchased all supplies at the new home depot in Compton, totally worth it. I purchased about $80 worth of materials and the retarded girl behind the counter only charged me $40:hump: I swear all those employees are ex-cons. Uh, who cares as long as their legit now! Well anyways, tell me what you think. I plan on adding some mylar, doors with hinges/lock, and wood finish on exterior. I have not added any vent holes, yet. I should have all grow equipment in my posession by late January so for now I'll use it to hang my clothes. Tips and comment welcome!

Dimensions are 2Lx3wx4h

thats some nice wood for a grow box.you might want to think about making it taller if you can. mine 4' and it way to short. 7' would be alot better:weed:

Yeah I know, it was $7 a sheet of 2x4, sweet huh? Well I already have a dr120 tent which is 7ft tall, the purpose of this for me was to have a small discrete cabinet accessible for a 250hps cool tube. I know more space equals more bud, but I'm a one man smoker(plus i'm still growing in a dr120 tent w/ a 400 watt), I probably smoke 1g a week, so quantity isn't really a problem for me. Thanks for stopping by!

looks nice i hope ur adding the walls but i would just use it as a veg chamber and use ur dr for the flower and u could have a nice perpetual harvest going mabee make a lil extra cash since u only use 1 g a week

A couple things you may have already concidered,,1 be real careful about heat, you fire up a 400 watt bulb at the end of your bed like you have it set up now and things are gonna warm up real fast. 2- if you are lookinjg to grow some good stuff and I assume that is what you are tring to do???
well you are gonna need a 1000 watt bulb and about 5 good square feet and a fan to keep a slight breeze on your crop.
I'm new at this also but I think from trial, error and a bunch of reading anfd taking notes I've learned a few things and like you tring to improve on that all the time

Thats exactly what im trying to build. Same dimensions just MAYBE a little bit taller. Very nice work

as for what steadyeddie just said, its not entirely true. Ive seen people grow in 2x2 boxes and harvest some dank stuff. CFLs wont compare to HPS systems but you can still get very nice buds.

Its all about:

soil
nutrients
ventilation
lighting (CFL or HPS)

You got it all wrong steadyeddie, i have a 400 in my tent and i'm planning on putting a 250 in the cab. And dhhbomb, i wish, I have my tent at a relatives house and would be a hassle to have a perpetual grow and also transporting them, etc... I do plan on becoming a vendor for local dispensaries though. But yeah people I already have my grow equipment listed out, i know exactly what i'm instaling, i like to plan things out before winging it. thanks peeps!

Looks great. I am about 80% finished building a 4 foot tall by 2.5x1.5 cab. It'll be my third, and the upper 12.5 inches is for wire storage and a possible clone starting space for later. Look, anyine that says you need 7' vert. clearance and 1000w HPS is just lacking in understanding. The whole fun of a cabgrow is KEEPING IT STEALTH AND COMPACT! I grew some awesome mango with a 150 HPS in a cooltube in a cab that was just under three feet tall and about 1'x2'. Sure I was limited a little for quantity, but a good grower can LST and keep a VERY bushy, dense compact plant under three feet tall. The only reason a grower would want a 1000 hps is because you get plenty of canopy penetration. If you lst, and do it well, you can actually fill up a lot more of your cab and utilize all the lumens your light is producing. Anyway, rant done. When I get mine done I'll post some pics, and if you are curious, look at my profile for posts I had pics of the first smaller mango plant I harvested from a 150 hps. I've got a 250 now, and I'm pretty pumped!

Finally someone who understands, thank you. Pacman you have great advice, I just recently learned of LST and read up on the techniques and I was actually considering it but am just a bit hesitant. I am definatly interested in your grow!

I highly recommend you DIY, it's so worth it. Not only do you get to build it to your standards, you save money, and you don't have to pay $250 for some cardboard crap from ikea. Do it man, so far this cab has cost me $50-$65.

id say u might as well scrog so u can keep everything at the exact same height and will never have to move the light at all
