Nubie's first cfl stealth grow cab

OK, so ive been smoking for half my life (i'm 32) and have always wanted to grow...here is my first attempt.

I needed it to be stealth, but not overly so, I just did not want to have to talk about it with every person who came over, and it needed to fool in-laws who will be in the same room as the box for less that 2 minutes at a time, and very infrequently. Also, yield is not a huge factor to me, especially for this box.

Anyways here goes

materials

(1) used filing cab from thrift store $8.99
(1) can flat white paint - $2.49
(1) package weatherstripping - $3.49
(1) 3 way contractors splitter (home depot) $5
(1) Heavy duty contractors tool cord $8.99
(6) 23 watt cfl - 2700K ~$13.00
(3) lamp socket plugs ~$6.00
(3) Y adapters ~ $6.00
(1) pc fan - 11.99 (Had to buy it...and just threw one away in a broken case)
(1) 12v adapter - found around the house.

I took out the bottom of the top drawer, put a strip of weatherstripping in between the drawer faces and screwed them together, now they open as one unit and you cant see light in between the drawers.

I used a rotozip to cut a hole in the back of the cabinet,
installed a pc fan for exhaust

drilled holes in the top of the cabinet to hang my light..I used zip ties...it worked great

ran weatherstripping along edges of drawers and inside of cab and anywhere else I could see light (trying to light proof a filing cab is no easy feat)

lit up...the box and myself :P and let the lights and fan run for about 4 hours to make sure the temp and humidity were right (temp is 79 and humidity is 51%). Put my clones in and ...vioila

Let me know what you experts think.

Here are the new pics, everything is going along as planned. the inside of the cabinet is painted flat white, however, i realized my paint job was pretty crappy, if I put mylar blankets on the inside of my cab, will that push the heat WAAAAY up?

the 6500k is what you want for veg, also a side note, they run a little hotter than the 2700k's in my experience (about 5 degrees more in a 2x2x3)

I'm actually going straight to flower...My box is so small that I figured that I should flower right away (being a newbie and not understanding light cycles and LST, SCROG and so forth played into that decision as well). I am planning on doing some light LST to get the lower bud sites more light. on the next cycle i will switch out my bulbs and do a scrog...would love to do SOG but don't have the room for a 2nd box.

What I really need to know is if I put mylar on the walls, will that make my temps soar? right now they are in the butta zone - 76 degrees with lights on with 52% humidity, they fluctuate from time to time, but that's the reading i get most often

mylar shouldnt bring the heat up too much but if it does just keep it below 80 and keep an eye on soil moisture . If you water too much humidity casn become a prob with that smallof a space keep those fans kickin!!

Winkdogg.

Ps this might sound stupid but what does "bump" mean in a thread???

Looks good. You might consider setting a cheap little air purifier on top of the box - explains the fan noises to a casual observer.

I wouldn't expect the Mylar to push the heat up much, but it's a guess - you have a one of kind box there man.

I saw the $20, 150 watt HPS light on here and was wondering if that light would cause too much heat in my little box, I'm currently runnung 6 23 watt CFLs. and I'm using a 80mm pc fan as exhaust (switching to a 120mm - $6.00 at frys electronics).

Anything I can do to increase my yield.:-o

PS new pics coming later today...as soon as my P.O.S. cell phone recharges...don't ever buy a Motorola Q
