Grow Journal

Well, after "joining" the site last December and trying to grow (and fucking it up!!!:dunce:) i gave up!!
So...time to try again! Thought I'd share it with u guys in the hope u can give me some advice as i grow so i don't fuck it up this time!
Detaills of my "room":

Don't have much room in my chica's house so am using an old airing cupboard about 3' x 3' x 5'.
I'm using a 400w sodium/halide light.
Only have an oscilating fan for air movement and my girlie won't let me"knock holes" in things for extraction etc but the room is a constant 28-30 degrees when the light's on and onlydrops toaround 20 degrees at "night".

I'm growing in compost enriched soil and the plants are in 20cm pots.
So here's the diary.

After germing 2 femenised white deisel seeds & 6 standard white rhino seeds they were potted into 4" pots on 6th june and looked good after a week.
After 2 and a half weeks, i re-potted thm into the 20cm pots they're now in, on17th june.
They're currently about 4inches tall lots of nice broad leaves and nice and healthy. Will get some pix on here prob tonight when i've stopped being a spaz and worked the cam out!!!
Just giving them a drink when they need it and by that i mean lifting the pot to see how heavy it is! So no food just yet although 2-3 are starting to show signs of needing some N. What's the best nutes to use? Keep reading that MiracleGro sucks a bit as too strong????
ANY advice at all is welcome and wanted whether you're being a smart arse or not. Just don't want to kill the kids again!!!

Peace Peeps :peace:

Cheers cyrus......
Worked the cam out(it's new ok.I'm not an utter div!)
1st two are my girlies.

Sorry bout the light/shade, I'll work all that out and get better shots up.
U should be able to see that the 2 girls are a little V-shaped and the 2nd girl is quite small.seems to be growing very "compact". The V thing may just be a strain thing as the others aren't doing it at all.
Anyway....let me know your thoughts.
oh and i've measured them and they're more like 5-6".

the ventalation is not just to remove heat. you need a fresh supply of oxygen and co2 or they wont last. are those leaves curling up on that 2 nd pic? no nutes yet?

Thanks for the comments guys...
Mr West...the light i have is 400w sodium halide.is about 2 feet frm plants at the mo.
Bonz...yeah..aware of that. I have the doors open most of the time and the loft hatch too so hopefully that should help with the fresh air flow.
But like I said b4....the missus doesn't want me put in fans and stuff so have to make the best of what I have. Not ideal I know but hey!!! bloody women! pmsl.
As for nutes...2/3 were showing signs of needing N so just given them a small feed of 24-8-16. Too much K maybe??? also a small dose of liqiud wormcastings.
The leaves are curling slightly on the 2nd pic but it's more of a V-shape thing. " are kinda doing it but they're the white deisel ones so maybe it's the strain?or maybe I'm a twat!lol

was that a full mix of nutes or 1/4. it`s definately not the strain it`s nutes. what is a sodium halide bulb, never heard of it. there is metal halide or sodium or high pressure sodium

was a 1/4 mix.would rather under do it than poison the poor things!easier to fix, im figuring, if too little.
And just to prove what a novice I am...just had a look at the spec foor the light and the it's HPS! Knew ithad sodium in there somewhere lol.
So what's to do with the V thing. It's not that bad so guessing it won't be too diff to correct.Wieird how it's only the 2 w/deisel and not the w/rhinos. guessing they use nutes at different rates?or have i again proved ima novice??!!!lol

no dude most novices would give em extra nutes to start them off lol. Less is most definatly more. rep+ for you

they will grow fine without nutes. no nutes in nature. just stick with water for now i think that nute might be a bit strong of nitrogen actualy with the worm castings ( also has n) watch the wet/dry cycles for water. let it dry a couple inches into the dirt almost to the point of wilt. incorect watering will mess with the nute uptake and may cause lock out

Cool.cheers u guys! nice encouragement too (now I just need to wipe the brown off my nose!)

Today was the 1st bit of food I gave em and i'm at day 24. Haven't been watering much either to be honest as have read b4 bout the top 2 inches being dry 1st.
Killed my 1st attemptat the end of last year and I think it was cos idid the newbie thing and thought "oh i know..give em loadsa nutes and they'll grow super quick!".
What a dick!! lol learnt very quick from that!

Oh.also i let the water sit for a couple of days aswell.
So as far as the small v-shape thing....just water and see how they go?cos the other 6 look beautiful.

if you can dig down half way into the soil and take a bit out, put it in some water ,mix it around a bit, strain the dirt out of the water and test the ph of that. ya just water se if it comes around in a few days

well the last learning curve wasn't steep.
It was fucking vertical!!!!!lol
sweet. cheers bonz...will try that. I have been testing the water out the bottom of the pot after watering but guess this checks the soil ph too?
