My new grow

Hi, first post here. I've been working on this grow about two months now. My previous grows weren't so good, due to all sorts of factors. After the last batch was worthless, I tore everything down, and re-built my tent, hopefully learning from my mistakes.

I don't have much space, so I used some wire shelves as a framework, covered with a sandwich of black poly and aluminum mylar. I have a 400W switchable fixture with an enclosed ballast, because I wanted it compact. I wish I'd gone with a separate ballast, but it works fine. Right now, I'm running a MH 16/8. A Can-Fan cools the light, and a bathroom exhaust fan vents the whole tent. A light trap allows intake through a port on one side.

I had started out with a t5 fixture, but wanted more light. Now, I use that for germinating and cloning.

Here's pix:

The whole setup. Pots are elevated on boxes since the fixture is so unwieldy to raise and lower.

My crop. I learned from before that a tent this size can really only handle two or three plants. AK48 seeds from Nirvana, growing in soil:

Thanks to all my fans

I have some cuttings under a dome with the t5s; when I'm sure they're rooting I'll swap out the MH for an HPS and go to 12/12.

Thanks for the support. This is the first time I've tried growing Indica, and I'm just doing it as straight forward as possible. I'm eager to see how well they flower; the stuff I raised a couple of years ago was pretty pathetic. I think having proper ventilation is what's doing the trick this time.

Here's the setup I'm using for my clones. The t5 fixture is sitting on a screen I made when I was trying a scrog a while back. I have mylar draped over the sides.

The current residents, cut about three days ago. No roots showing yet, but they do look healthy:

I added some extra light-proofing to my main tent, and will check for any stray light leaks tonight. Hope to flip it soon.

Nice cloning set up Kroost, something the same as mines, I'm cloning for the first time as we speak, I'm a bit confused by conflicting advice on cloning, everyone seems to have their own system, some say give dim light for the first couple of days in the heated propagator ( This is what I am doing ) and some say take the clones, keep in the humidity dome and put straight under the vegging light. You look like a '' straight under the light'' guy, anyway looking good, nice clean set up wd.

Went to 12/12 last night, still with MH. I gave them some extra water this morning, 'cause it looked like they needed it. They looked better afterwards.

Still waiting on roots on the clones, but they look healthy, so I think it's just a little more waiting.

Saw last night that there was no rooting at all on the clones. I think I wasn't careful enough when I took the cuttings. I took a couple more this morning (carefully!), and re-trimmed the ends of the old ones, since they seem to be still growing.

Mamas are looking good this morning. I'm still getting used to the compact Indica stem structure, after the wide-open spaces of Sativa, but it's definitely more managable.

yeah looks like proper indica those ak47s bushy with broad leaves, In Amsterdam AK47 is is considered old school and sells quite cheap but its still a real quality smoke

I see other folks' pics of trich-laden buds, and anxiously check mine, only to remember that I only changed to 12/12 one week ago. But things are starting to happen:

Clones aren't looking too promising:

I did some searching here, and lots of people said that some strains take longer, and to just leave them moist as long as they have some life. I hope they eventually root! The last stuff I grew would always root in just a few days.

Looking good for a week in 12/12, definite signs of bud beginning there, most noticable in pic 2, and the clones although a bit sorry looking show signs of new growth, so I would expect roots to show outside the rockwool cubes any time now. Wish I could say the same, mines are 8 days and no signs of roots amybe a little fresh growth but thats maybe wishful thinking, good luck.

Things are flowering nicely. The tall one, which I have imaginatively named "The Tall One", seems to have a bit more sativa than "The Bushy One", with wider node spacing and longer stems on the flowers, which I have tied several of to get them into the light. I could only do this on a couple from the Bushy One.

I plan on switching from the MH to HPS in a day or two. I'm curious to see how cool it stays with proper ventilation; it got pretty damn hot in there before I got the fans (on my previous grows). The Tall One, raised up atop a box, is already just a few inches beneath the fixture. I'll likely be removing the box, but I hopt I don't run out of room!

Real good quality pics Krosst, well done, and not a yellowing leaf in sight on your plants, '' The Tall One '' looks like its going to be one of those big long high colas that make for fantastic pics, while '' The Bushy One '' looks like a multi bud explosion waiting to happen. PS any sign of life with the clones ?

Signs of life? Well they're still green (mostly) and not shriveled/curled. But still no visible roots.

Changed over to HPS yesterday. Definitely warmer than MH. I think I'll add another air intake port, which would be a good idea anyway, as the sides of the tent are caving a lot.

Just checked, and my clones finally rooted!

Got them in soil, still under the t5s, where they'll probably stay until I harvest the Moms.

They don't look too pretty; I hope they were'nt stressed, and grow healthy:

Two days under HPS, and going well.

In the tent:

The Tall One. There's another pic of it that gave an error when I tried to attach it.
IMG_1374.jpg

The Bushy One. Going nicely.

The Clones. I suspect a lot is happening under the surface, but there is a tiny bit of new growth up top. I don't know about the last one, though.
