my first CFL grow

I started germinating five seeds on Nov 15[SUP]th[/SUP] but had to leave town due to an emergency and didn’t return until Nov 27[SUP]th[/SUP]. Two of the seeds survived but were in bad shape, as their roots were about 6 inches long and all curled up.

They were sprouted but the pod leaves were yellow and sickly. I placed them in soil and into the grow room…. in about 3 days they were healthy but they are not progressing as well as I would like.

  • 4 socket vanity lamp with splitters, with eight 23W CFL’s - four 6500K, two 2700K, two 5000K
  • PC fan, humidifier/fan, timer, homemade reflector/milar and various hardware.
  • Assorted seeds, Dutch potting soil, 2-gallon pots, MG 24-8-16, pH ~6.5, temp 70-88F, RH ~40%

PS: Any feedback or comments would be welcomed

My plants are about 1 month old now, they seem to be healthy but not growing as fast as I would have thought.

I swapped the two 5000K for 6500K, so I'm now running six 23W 6500K & two 23W 2700K

I've been using 1/3 strenght MG, but giving them pure water (~ 6.5 pH) every second watering.

I'm considering transplanting them into a bigger pots....feedback would be welcomed

I removed some of the mylar to allow better air flow and have bought new nutes, maxigro and maxibloom, should be better than the MG.

Started a new seed yesterday, "early wonder skunk" ...have a new nursery cabnet.... two 23W 6500K CFL

Things have not been going well...my seed didn't make it and now one of my plants has turned ill and I'm not sure what the problem is, as the other gal is doing just fine, but they get the exact same nutes, water (pH 6.5), soil, light, pot size.

Could it be calcium, or maybe manganese...this is the one that was drooping due to a lack of water but had recouvered quickly, it's had no nutes for 2 waterings, and when I did use nutes they were 1/3 strenght

I have added some side lighting.....now have twelve 23W, eight 6500K and four 2700K, plus added a decent fan which is really helping keep the temp consistant.

They both stressed out a bit when I added the extra lights, but are coming around now.

Been using General Hyro Maxigro every second watering, they seem to be doing better

I have flipped to 12/12....have changed out my bulbs to 8-2700K and 2-5000K and 2-6500K.....looking to add another dual socket and will add 2 more 5000k

I'm now using the General Hydroponics Maxi-bloom nutes.....now I just gotta hope they are girls....will be totally choked if they are males.
