- Self built grow frame & moveable light frame to raise / lower lights & act as giant reflector
- Completely pollyed off

Upgrades comming after this grow :

- 2x 1,000w HPS
- 1x 12,000 BTU A/C
- Cool tubes
- Water chillers
- O2 system

Hey everybody, Now with that all out of the way lets get to the grow journal. I am a medical grower, 122 plant limit
( cant fit any ware near that amount in my current house ) So hopefully will be moving after awhile into a much larger space. But for now this is what I got :)

8x Vanilla Kush & 8x Critical kush managed by myself & my girlfriend. Right now they are being fed with future harvest development nutrients, But we will be doing a comparison next grow between FHD & the new greenhouse seed powder feed.

Here are some photo's to get this journal started. This system is completely self built, Using uniseals & 5 gallon painters buckets, EZ stor 8 gallon as the res & yeah the rest is fairly basic. Its 110 litre air pump & 350gph magline pumps on each system.

Defiantly noticing the vanilla kush is alot more rapid growth through veg so far. Both strains seedlings had a ruff start but the vanilla has defiantly recovered much faster.

Can youtube video links of grows be posted or just pictures ?

Any idea what your build cost was, for the undercurrent?

What kind of nutes are you using?

Right now we are using Future harvest development, They are a nutrient line developed here in canada & holland. I have used them for the past while since ive been growing both in soil & now hydro. We will be doing a comparisson side by side of future harvest development & the new greenhouse seedbank line next grow.

Total cost for both systems, Was a bit high since I am in canada I paid duty fee's for alot of the stuff I ordered, & technically i built 2 systems so heres the ruff estimate on price.

- 2x 110 litre air pump - 260
- 2x 350gph inline pump - 240
- 36x 2'' uniseals & 2x 1'' Uniseals - 220
- 2x 2'' Bulkhead w/ hose attachment to drain res - 30
- 2x EZ Stor 8 gallon containers w/ lids for epicenter's - 55
- 16x 5 gallon painters buckets w/ Net pot lids - 160
- PVC elbows / connections - 45
- 2'' PVC / 1'' PVC - 30 ( always best to have extra )

Each system cost's just a bit over 500 bux for a 8 bucket system w/ res and everything. Putting them together with round buckets is a little trickier but can be done with patience.

All in all I built my 2 systems for about half the price of what Current Culture charges for a ridiculously over priced system :) Nothing against them, Just my opinion.

Here is a little do it yourself thread I started in another forum that is basically a ghost town, I will add it to here. If anybody else wants more Direct instructions for assembling this system I would be glad to help.

Things you will need :

* Uniseals 2'' ( How many will depend on how big your system is, 2 per bucket & 2 per reservoir )
* Uniseal 1'' ( only need 1 per reservoir )
* Bulkhead 2'' w/ attachment to thread into the bulkhead that will accept garden hose with on/off ctrl
* 2'' PVC ( again how much you need will depend on large your system is )
* 1'' PVC ( how much you need will depend on large your system is )
* 5 gallon black buckets (sidewall must be thick This is very important to get a good seal)
* DWC Net pot lids ( how many you need will depend on the size of your build )
* EZ Stor 8 gallon rectangular bin w/ lid ( acts as your epicenter AKA resivoir )
* 4x 2'' PVC Elbow joints
* 1x 2'' PVC T Joint
* 1x 2''- 1'' Converter for center hole of T-joint to run your 1'' return line
* 1x 1'' On/off valve
* 1x 1'' elbow
* 1x 1'' T-Joint

* 3'' Holesaw bit for your 2'' Uniseals
* 1 3/4 Holesaw bit for your 1'' Uniseal
* vaseline to lube your Uniseals for inserting the pipe

* Water pump * INLINE PUMPS ONLY * ( Dont use anything smaller than 350gph )
* Air pump ( Commercial grade works best if you can afford it )

This is all I will be posting for now, Along with a few tips because I simply cant think how to word the construction of this yet. I feel it will be easyer for you all who are interested to ask questions on how it is constructed then I will be able to explain those portions.

* Your holesaw holes you cut must be perfectly round take your time gently shave off the leftover burs with a razor blade make it clean ! this counts for a leakproof system.

* Your holes must be lined up perfectly with each other so the pipe that comes in the front is the same position as the pipe that comes out the back, Or else your system will be wonky looking & leaky We found with standard painters buckets 3'' from the bottom of the bucket & 3.5'' from either side into the center was a perfect distance to place your holes for your pipes.

* YOU MUST cut your pipe on an angle if you want any chance at getting it in. If it is cut on a sharp angle it is very easy to slide it in with somebody bracing the inside of the bucket around the uniseal.
This angle also allows for better water flow & less chance of the roots clogging your system.

* It is best to do a dry run & assemble your system without any plumbers glue at first make sure everything fits, Once you are sure of it plumbers glue all your joints. Dont skimp out ! make sure to do it fast & line everything up before it hardens. This stuff cures quick.

* You will likely need some 1'' pvc joint pieces for your water pump. I used danner magdrive pumps the front will require a double threaded piece that goes in & a screw on w/ 1'' socket on the other end then you can plumb your pipe right into it. The top of the pump only needs the screw on w/ 1'' socket on the opposite end. DON'T FORGET TO TEFLON TAPE all your threaded joints.

This hole system with top of the line pumps should run you around 500-700 dollars, Compared to double or triple that from current culture or another builder of these systems. If I can do it, So can you
Just take your time & be rewarded with the most cutting edge hydro system to grow your medicine with.

Any other further questions just ask, & remember to use lotsa lube

Vanilla is growing insane, The root development every 12hrs is nuts, Loving this strain. Both strains got off to a ruff start, The critical has taken longer to get back on track but its growing much faster & finally starting to get going. Flipping on the 27th stay tuned in !

Some branchy ass vanilla kush. Love this strain so far cant wait to see it flower, Just been pinching the main stem between nodes to promote strong side branching & its deffinatly loving it. Deffinatly a good strain for Under Current, It also seems to be loving high nutrient levels.

PPM - 850
PH - 5.8

PPM's will be walked up to 1600 within 3 weeks of cropping then strait water will be ran.

I have a couple comments 1. Your going to want a bigger AC when you upgrade. and 2. 1600 ppm is way way way too high. Like insanely high for a UC grow. The masters of UC rarely go over 1k. Other than that looks good. I would seriously consider running a chiller or if you can't afford it, then running EWC tea. LOTS of UC grows go down in flames due to root rot

It happens to even very experienced growers

Check out thcfarmer for info on UC growing

Thank you for those tips man I hope you can subscribe to the thread and stay tuned in :) Water chillers are comming in after this crop, Just gonna get this one out of the way while we are in the very cold start of our winter. Room never climbs up too high & the res temp's dont get too bad but im lucky to be growing at the right time to get away without chillers for 1 crop. Also we have a 12,000 BTU A/C comming in when we upgrade do u mean even larger than that with everything cool tubed & the heat being vented out of the room ? Also can you pipe 1 water chiller to do 2 res's or would I need 1 per res ?

The most your going to want to run (even with AC hoods is about 4k worth of lights). I have 3600, a dehu and a co2 burner (water cooled) and my 12,000 runs constantly to keep up. Just not great for the AC. Should have got a an 18

You should check out my DIY chiller. Pretty bomb actually. You could cool two rez off of one.

Yeah 4 lights is our end goal for now until we move into a bigger house & push my plant limit to its potential a bit more. Until then 4 lights is all, 2 over each system. Thanks alot for the heads up on the A/C I will make sure I get no less than a 18,000 BTU Checking ur DIY thread out now thanks for all the input man will post some fresh pics of the ladies tomarow :)
