Hi all, I'm an old fart (49) living in the middle of nowhere, oh wait thats Wisconsin, duh. I've been smoking since I was 14 had a hip replacement last year and am still in pain from my arthritic foot too.
If I lived in a different State I'm pretty sure I'd be getting medical marijuana, it helps. Of course I'd be lieing if I said I didn't enjoy a good buzz too. I decided since we have the acreage here, I'm growing my own. I've tried growing a few times in my life, but never to much of any fruition. So this is my first time doing this using purchased seeds. I never knew there were so many varieties.
OK enough babbling and on to the grow journal...........

Growing Nivana's Bubblious (Ordered through DrChronic)
bcseedking.com's Mango & Kahuna
White Rhino (buydutchseeds.com)
And Still waiting for myTHC Bomb & Thai (marijuans-seeds.nl)
Also for shits and giggles some bag seeds.

OK for the sake of those unsure about how to germinate seeds I think I should explain a bit more detail of how I'm doing mine.
First I took two paper towels and folded them twice and laid one of them in the bottom of a shallow plastic container (6"x6").

I wet the towel with enough water to saturate the towel but not flood it.
I placed my seeds on the towel 5 on each side and marked the container with a sharpie so I would know which seeds were which strain.
I covered the seeds with the other paper towel and poured on a little more water to saturate the towel but again, Not Flood It.
Then I read that it is best to keep them warm and in the dark white they are sprouting. So I placed a heating pad set on low in the bottom drawer of my dresser, placed the container on it and am impatiently waiting for them to get their tails.

Germination Day Two and there is life!
I laid 5 seeds of each in the paper towel to germinate and so far two of each are cracked with litte tails starting to poke out.
I also added 5 more seeds to the towel today, my White Rhino seeds came in today from BuyDutchSeeds.com (YES!!!).
Well I know this doesn't look like much but I'm excited.

Germination Day Three, Jiffy pot day.
I checked the seeds again when I got up and all 5 mango have popped and still only 3 Kahuna and 2 Bubblious and 1 White Rhino so far too.
Had a doctors appt today and when I came home 1 more WR was open so I put them all in the jiffy pots.
I also put 3 more Kahuna seeds and the last 4 (lost one in the carpet) of the Bubblious (Not to happy with Nirvana's 40% germ rate thus far) and threw in about 10 bag seeds onto the paper towel to germinate.

Well nothing really exciting to report yet, didn't update yesterday as I was busy with other projects around to house.
Had 2 more White Rhino, 2 more Bubblious, 1 more Kahuna, and 1 bag seed all pop open and put them in the jiffy thingies.
Nothing has popped its head out of the top of the the jiffy thingies yet andI'm a little worried that maybe I put them in too deep.

Well not a good day for the plants for the most part.
I finally realized that these jiffy puck things weren't allowing the new growth to make it up to the surface (they looked like they grew down instead of up). The White Rhinos are the only ones that are looking good, oh and 1 Bubblious. The Kahunas turned brown and died in the jiffy puck and 2 Mangos are barely hanging in there.
I tried to salvage them by transplanting into peat pots with moisture control MG soil.
Of the misc bag seeds I have 1 freak seed that sprouted with 2 tails.
I tried to get a good pic before putting it in the soil, its blurry but youcan still see it.

Oh bro! Sorry to here about the misfortune. I did the same routine with a 20 seed BC indoor mix and the accompanying mangos and had a 100% germination rate dropping them into RapidRooter plugs. If you can find them, they are awesome, composted tree bark i believe. One Mango didn't pop at first so I tossed him in the plug anywho and 2 weeks later he popped up too.

Whats with that double tail thing? You get a twin or something?

Don't know exactly how long I've had the bag seeds, just had a bottle that I tossed the rare seed from good weed into for the last 3-4 years.

Yeah, thanks slackjack but ya know live and learn. It's still winter here in WI and they were probably cold in the window. I have them on a heating pad now and will be getting some lights hooked up soon.
Really wondering about that double tail thing though, should be interesting. Wish I had a better pic of it but it's in the soil now.

Well the kids apparently are liking the new peat pots and MG soil better and the heating pad under them seems to be helping too. all of the survivors are looking good now.
All 5 of the White Rhinos (still have 5 more of these seeds left) are doing the best.
I only have 1 Bubblious left and I sure hope its a girl!!!
The 2 Mangos (7 more of those seeds left) are making an effort to come back I think.
One of the bag seeds has come up and its short little stem seems to be thicker than the others.
I lost all of the Kahuna to the coldness in the window and/or the jiffy pots, but I still have 8 more of those seeds yet.
I'm going to wait just a bit until I get some light set up befoe I germ any more for this grow.
Here is todays pics in this order:
My 1 Bubblious
Bubblious & 2 scraggily Mangos
The 2 Mangos
The 2 Mangos & 1 bagseed
The 5 White Rhinos

i used to use jiffys too but you can skip that whole step.. just plant the germinated seed directly into the soil medium and keep it moist when i did that my seedlings were way healthier looking and there stem was twice the size of the jiffy seedling stem i've also switched to rockwool just recently.

the pic shows a plant in the background that i planted in a jiffy and the pic in the front was a germinated seed planted directly to soil you can see the stem size dif

one other thing if you dont see the seed sprout from the jiffy.. just open the jiffy the seedling is probably growing inside just take it out and plant it into soil and it'll be fine (i had to do that with about 8 of 20 i planted)

Yeah I noticed the difference the very next morning after I went through and opened all the jiffys and put the survivors into soil.
Unfortunately I was too late to salvage some of them.
The next ones that I do I'll be skipping the jiffys altogether, they were a gift from a friend who uses them for his plants and they have worked well for him.
Thanks for the advise and pic.

Well of the White Rhinos has bit the dust, that leaves 4 of them and they are all stretching for the sun in that window.
The 1 Bubblious is looking good and staying low so far.
No noticable change to the 2 Mangos.
The Bagseed baby is upright, has a nice thick stem and is working on that first set of real leaves.
I think i will have to transplant at least 1 of the WRs tommorrow due to its lankiness.
