Tool Shed psuedo stealth grow

Hi ya'll, I'm currently a couple weeks in on my first grow.

Right now I have 8 27w (100w equiv) "daylight" cfls with some turkey basting pans for reflectors. They claim that the bulbs put out 1.6k lumens each for a total of 12.8k lumen total on 18/6 scheduling. The space that the plants occupy is about ~1.5x3 but for all intensive purposes i call it a 1x3 space. I know I'm light (hehe) on the lumens but come the switch to 12/12 I plan on upgrading to a 250w HPS hopefully putting out ~50klm.

They're planted in coir pearlite mix (~70/30) with about 2" of hydroton on the bottom of the pots which are in a home made flood and drain set up which I run for 30 min every morning. I'm using GH's FloraNova Gro solution at the recommended 1Tblspoon per gallon dilution. I know I need to get an EC and pH meter but as for now I've been using strips and I've got it so 5<pH<6. I plan on switching up the Nutes to a bloom oriented mix and switching to a drip-to-drain set up for flowering for more precise nutrient delivery.

I'd really appreciate comments and suggestions from you folks. Most of what I know is just from reading on forums such as this so I greatly value your opinion and help!

The above plant is a Heavy Duty Tooty Fruity (aka Toots) that was a little leggy when I first got her but has been doing great. Responding to LST beautifully and the roots are even coming out the bottom of the 2.5 gal pot she's in! Hoping she continues on that path!

The above plant is a ChocoChunk (aka Choculitus) that was pretty unhealthy when I first got it and several weeks along. When I startd to LST I split the stem a bit but it seems to not have even noticed. She's doing pretty well but I'm not sold this guy is especially healthy and I'm trying to replace it with a G13 Haze clone soon though that one will be several weeks behind..

The third is the organic control (yeah I'm a scientist..) It's a beautiful Blueberry Kush that's in soil and gets top watered every morning with a big slug of fish emulsion (4-1-1, bottle recommended dilution of 1tblspoon to 1 gal) followed by a healthy squirt of well water.

Alright sorry it's been a while but here's a long overdue update:

I upgraded from the CFL array to a 250w HPS I got online for dirt cheap

I was a little worried about buying something that's makes no claims to deny itself as a Chinese knockoff but it's been preforming flawelessly. The build quality was much higher than expected and when it comes down to it, it turns out the Chinese can bend sheet metal as good as anyone else. I'll be keeping an eye on the digital ballast but even after running for 12 hours it's just pleasantly warm. The aircooled hood is currently not aircooled and there's no real need for it to be. I can put my had comfortably on the glass below and the metal above the light bulb so unless i upgrade to a beefier ballast and bulb combo I think it will be just fine.

About a week ago I put them into 12/12 and they lept up 4-6" I know I need to do some pruning but they seem to be adjusting just fine.

I also switched from ebb and flow to drip to drain style of watering. My hydro expert friend recommended this in order to be able to keep better control on what the ladies are eating and to adjust nutes accordingly. He also hooked it up with his personal nute recipe that I'm sure kicks GH's flora to the curb.

As always any comments, suggestions, or questions are appreciated.

After today's work. About 1 week into flower and just switched the nutes and to drip. That also allowed me to drop them to the floor to allow for more vertical growth.
