SnarfleBug's First--Romulan and Sour Diesel, Soil under LED

My first grow!

I have some Attitude supplied, Romulan (regular) and Sour Diesel (Fem) which I'll be growing in a Black Gold/Perlite mix of 5:1.

They started between the sheets, and within 24 hours all had sprouted! Right now they are enjoying a very well-lit corner of the room until my Spectra LED 290 arrives from Grow LED Hydro, then it will probably be 18/6 until flowering.

Comments and suggestions welcome and without further delay, may I introduce Alice, Betty, Cathy and Deloris. Named in the order they first showed their faces, Alice and Betty are the Rom's. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don't end up with an Albert and Bob! These are all day two photos.

Also have this:

Product: Grow More Sea Grow 16-16-16 All-Purpose
Major Nutrients (% by weight): Nitrogen 16.0%, Phosphate 16.0%, Potash 16.0% Nitrogen components: Ammoniacal 4.0%, Nitrate 2.0%, Urea 0.0%, Organo-Protein 10.0% Secondary and Micro Nutrients: Boron 0.02%, Copper 0.05%, Iron 0.3%, Manganese 0.15%, Magnesium 0.5%, Molybdenum 0.0005%, Sulfur 3%, Zinc 0.05%

Anyone know if it's of any use to the grow, or is there just too much of the major nutes?

It's surprising the difference between the two strains. The Rom's are looking a lot sturdier, and seem to be enjoying themselves a lot more than the SD's, which are shorter with thinner stems. Hopefully this is a strain difference, and I don't have two keen male Romulans to deal with. More water today, and some TLC for Cathy, who wasn't looking too good. I thought she was deformed, but turns out she was just having a hard time with what remained of her shell.

Eight days later, and the girls turn two weeks old. The LED still hasn't arrived, though I have been notified of shipping and it should be here sometime today.

They have been under 24hr CFL since their pitiful start on the window sill--that just served to make them grow tall, and not much else--but even that didn't seem to do much for them after a day or two, so I decided to leave them outdoors in the sun during the day, and bring them in at night. No more upward growth (thankfully!), but there did seem to be a lot of leaf growth, as can be seen below.

Yesterday I started them on a VERY weak nute regimen. I was a little concerned that even though they have hit the 2-week mark, they'd still be a little small for extra food. As it turns out, they seemed to enjoy it, and over the 24 hours I did notice a big improvement. The nutes I am using are Grow More Sea Grow 16-16-16 All-Purpose. I did pick up different nutes that were higher in N, but it turned out to be not very water soluble, so I'll save that for my trees, and find something different. I may have to spend more and pay a visit to the hydro store.

Hopefully by the weekend the LED will be up and running--it just means I have to build them something more permanent.

Here are the pics. Cathy is still trailing, but I am not quite so worried about her as I was. I think I may have damaged one of her leaves whilst moving them around .

Thoughts and opinions gratefully received!

Girls are looking nice, especially Alice and Betty, really nice green color.
I have some ChemoIranian and they are so deep green. My Sweet Dreams is more like the color of Cathy.

Can you smell them yet, my Skunk x NL really has a great smell to it.

The SD's are starting to smell, yes. It began as a hint of what I could best describe as mint. Now, however....

Tomorrow I'll be posting their 3-week pictures--even though I see them every day, it's hard to believe how much they have grown in a week. And yes, the color on them is amazing, such a vivid deep green. The photo's don't really do them justice. Maybe I'll take the next lot of pics outside and get some natural light--see if that makes a difference.

I did have an accident a day or so back with Alice--she hit one of the CFL's overnight and scorched the leaves a little. I could have kicked myself, but apart from some browning she doesn't really seem to care.

The SD's have really surpassed the ROM's now, which you'll see in the new photo's. Stay tuned!

Keep up the good work, Got me some rom in hydro like 18-20 days They are deff sturdy plants.
The plants are incredibly sturdy for their size. The stems are hardening nicely but they seem to be, what I can best describe as, molting. The stems seem to be flaking a little, as though shedding a white skin. I'll try and get some close-ups of it, but it seems to be happening to them all.

I made a little mistake on some of my Chemo Iranian, let 3 of them get to dry, they were really burnt and wilted.

But they came back and seems that it made them bush more. It is crazy how fast they grow in a week.

Everything is so damn wet outside no chance for transplanting.

And so begins the girls' third week.

A couple of incidents and concerns this time around. Overall I am more than happy with the way they are looking. In the past week the two SD's have really bushed out, with a lot of new growth showing. Even Cathy, who is still pretty much the runt of the four, is doing her best to play catch-up.

I have been watering every 2-3 days as needed with a feeding (16-16-16) every other. I need to try and get out this weekend and pick up something more suitable for veg'ing.

Two things I am concerned about, though. Last night I found some spotting on the leaves. Not too much, but it did send me running for the help articles. I *think* (please correct me if I am wrong) that it might be PH related, as it seemed to be the best fit. If so then I really have myself to blame--I have PH meter that I rarely use. I don't know why I think they'll manage themselves, but I know I'll be using it a lot more from now on. Even if the spotting isn't related, it gave me the kick that I needed. Secondly is the peeling on the stems. I have done my best to get a close-up but I am not sure if it is coming across even though. It almost looks like the top layer of plant material is drying and peeling off. It has been like this for a while, and isn't getting any worse, but if you guys can put my mind at ease, I'd be grateful.

And finally, watch those lights! Even if they are only the cooler CFL's, they can still do some serious damage! Poor Alice.

And some pics of the problems mentioned above. All help gratefully received!

Leaf spotting. I am not sure if the color really comes up, but the spots are a pale brown. Thankfully not white! Any ideas? My first thought is PH, but I may well be very wrong...

And the peeling on the main stems seems to be happening to them all to some degree.

And finally the light burn. Ouch! Sorry Alice!
