hey yall this is my first "real" grow. any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

well im working with 3 big bang and 2 purple wreck, each were cloned from feminized seeds on june 28. i just transplanted them today and they seem very happy. the plants are vegging under a 400WATT MH and are potted in 3 gallon pots with Pro-Mix soil. since i've transplanted today i have also watered each plant with 1 gallon of water with fox farm nutes. im really hoping i didnt use to much too early! i guess we will find out soon enough. if anyone has any suggestions please comment!

What do you need advice on fox farms should have a feeding chart i started my clones with straight water for two weeks the I start half nutes first week then go up little by little while veg to about 600ppm then I end off at about 1300 during flowering

heres some pictures from this morning. can anyone tell me if these look good, or are they starting to stretch?

so far from cloning are 24 days old approximately. im getting mylar today for the walls and also ph testers and a thermometer. i plan on also hooking up an exhaust to get some more air circulation going through the room. when would you recommend setting up my carbon dioxide system? and should i use full strength fox farm nutes, or half? they seem to be taking off like crazy since i transplanted them 3 days ago and fed them nutes.

Looks like you have it under control..ppm parts per million how much nutrients are in water..happy growing

is there a specific decive for measuring ppm? Or a conversion chart for oz or tsbs. This site is awesome! Thanks everyone!

these ladies are starting to show preflower, it's been one week since I transplanted and they are doing a lot better. I'm thinking of purchasing some more 400 watt MH shop lights. They have a thick glass hood that I think is 2 or 3 feet wide and about 3 feed tall. I was wondering if the 400 watt MH lights and a 1000 watt MH lights would be good for flowering 5-12 plants for a perpetual harvest every 6 weeka after I clone my best looking plant and save her for a mother plant. I'll post pics tonight of the next set up I wanna do For the flowering room. Any advice would be awesome!

CIMG0221.jpgadded plexiglass under the hood and connected a high powered vetilation system into the mix. the temps were reaching well over 95 before i installed this. how they are at a steady 88 during lights on, and around 73 during dark time.
CIMG0227.jpgpurple wreck "slim goodie" as i call her, shes the tallest one out of the group.

these clones are going on day 21 since they took root, and only a week since they were transplanted!!!! these ladies are doing so well. when should i start vegging them and which plant should i make a mother?

yesterday i built my flowering room. lined the walls floor to ceiling with mylar. its 5x7x8. ill have pictures in a few days.

Plants don't see much, or any, benefit from having more than 70w per square foot. Ideally you want between 50 and 70 watts per square foot. It is important to only use as much light as you can keep cool.

One 400w is enough for a perpetual setup. You just need to control the height and size of the plant by pruning and training.

Don't choose a mother plant before you've flowered them out. Keep a clone of each of them and then decide once you've harvested. Some plants don't look too good in veg and then come alive in flower.

so I've gotten some new plants.. The 5 I originally had are almost 24" tall and are about to start flowering. My question is: is a 1000w MH conversion to HPS appropriate to flower these 5 ladies? Or would that and a 400w hps b better? I'm looking to remain practical and get atleast 3 ozs off each plant. Would this be possible?

i need some advice what to do with these plants, they are starting to get papery thin fan leaves (the mature ones) and they turn yellow, get some brown rust spots than completely die. i use the fox farm trio pack (big bloom, grow big currently) i was using a little more than they recommended because i thought why not try it out... current temps are ranging from 80-86 when lights are on. i water every 5 or 6 days with 2 liters of water, every other time i use ferts the past, 2 times i havent because i noticed the leaves turning UGLY. they are in 3 gallon pots with pro mix soil. if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. should i flush? are they not getting enough nutes? the tallest ones are about 22" tall

its starting to worry me because its only getting worse!

ill get some pics up when i get into work.

Possibly, but remember, more light=more bud, (as long as you can control temps.)

They look okay, a little stretched like you said, try looking around for a more transparent glass, like pyrex, I think that plexiglass may be restricting some light penetration...a 1000watt MH should have no problems keeping stretch from happening...

I'm thinking of topping all my plants... They are getting too streched.. Would it be safe to top? They are about 25 inches tall, still in veg cycle. I'm flushing today, should I while lights are off or on?

man, being as you say that this tis your first time, I have to recommend not adding anymore lights to your veg room. HID lamps make things happen very fast. Your already freaking out over a little bit yellowing leaves, if you add another 1400 watts things will just move that much quicker. Do so at your own risk and like someone else said, only if you can keep the space cool. Your plants grow a lot quicker with more light, but when things go wrong, your plants will die a lot quicker too. Depending on how you grow and how big your light is, you will have only a small window of time between the minute something goes wrong to the moment your plant shrivel up and die.

From the looks of things, everything looks fine. You sound a little impatient. I might be wrong but im guessing that your probably in your grow room like ever 20 minutes huh? lol
Flushing is a good idea since for some reason you added more nutes than required. You need to use 3x the water per container (i.e 3 gallon pot, 9 gallons of water). gthe first time you grow is usually more of a learning experience than the crop thats gonna break the bank and "change everything..." while simultaneously make you rich. Keep up the good work. Stay true to the grow!

PS
there are devices that measure parts per million (ppm)/TDS (total dissolved solids. Its the expert way of measureing your nutrient solution. Heres a cheaper one but Ive seen them go up to almost $200 for a combination pH/ppm/Temp/EC tester.
