My First Grow

This is just a little photo review of my first grow which is coming to a close, long flush then I'm chopping!
I started this grow in a 37 gallon 3 site (6 inch net pots) rubbermaid aerospring tote I built. I soon found out that this tote wasn't big enough for two mature plants (mine got to 5 and a half foot). The tote did function very well until the plants outgrew it even though I couldn't get the lid to stop leaking.
In a pinch I hit up the home depot and went with two bubbler buckets and left two plants in the rubbermaid tote. Soon after that I retired the leaky rubbermaid tote after building another using a different tote (see photos).
I like these totes , I didn't gasket the lid and still not one drop leakage, as you can see in the photo they have this hinged lid in front that makes it really handy for checking/adding water. The first one I designed I soon found wasn't quite fit for holding a 5 plus foot tall plant without some re-enforcing of the lid so I redesigned the plumbing to also support the lid and ultimately the net pot.
Its gone pretty well except for a few noob issues (over nute). The second one will be much better since I've got a grasp on my temperatures and hopefully I can chill on the nutes .
I'm using AN Sensi grow and Connoisseur bloom, big bud , b52.
Its been fun and educational and I hope to do much better next time.
Thanks for looking!tote2.jpg4-13-bigbud.jpg5-10-unknown.jpg4-26-euphwwbbogkush.jpgeuphoriaunlimited2.jpg4-12-whitewidow.jpg7-5.jpg100_0334.jpg4-12-euphoria.jpg4-18-euphoria.jpgtote.jpgdrunkincamo.jpg4-18-euphbigbud.jpgpre-flush accidentoops.jpg5-22-unknown.jpg5-22-unknown2.jpg5-1-switchflower.jpg

dbkick tote looks nice , do your sprayers run the height of your tote? I don't think I have seen one like that . An ya I found out the same way about them leak like crazy around the lids , but I have found a tote now and it works very well . An I don't care what it is called as long as it dose the job ! An I keep my plants small so I can get more in each tote I do SOG , but I have one plant totes to for bigger plants and the clone moms .

Can you put up some more pics of your tote spray system ?

Thanks

Hey thanks for the compliments guys. High that tote has like 9 sprayers in it. I added one that you don't see in the photo, its added to one of the horizontal pieces of pipe the lid rests on, I just drilled and tapped a hole at the appropriate angle on the pipe as to hit the net pot directly, just to ensure it gets nutes before the roots grow out of the basket and into the water. Hope these photos help you out . Also I don't remember what height I put the bottom set of sprayers but logic just tells you to put it at a level above whatever the level of the water/nutes will be of course. But yes, theres two sets of sprayers on each vertical pipe set at appropriate levels as to spray upon shit properly, I use air pumps and oxygenators too but you probably already know about those things. I set the 20 dollar oxygenator right by the intake of the water pump so that gets a lot of o2 in it also.

Here was my original design of that same tote then I realized the lid wasn't strong enough for a large plant(although the one in these photos is still in operation its only because I haven't gotten the chance to change it(theres a 5 foot tall pot plant in it). Note sprayer at wrong angle in that one photo, oh well, good thing it isn't rocket science.

Nice work and thanks for the pics . What kind of water pump do you use ?

Also you do know that all the water pressure is lower seance it is traveling throw all that pipe .

I forget what brand I put in that specific tote, the other one has a hydrofarm pump in it I think, anything 400 gph works . The tote is kinda cramped for room so I went with 1/2 inch pipe . The next one I build I think I'm gonna make only one change and that will be to put a smaller pump in it, those sprayer heads are rated at like 15 gallon per hour and theres 9 of them total in one tote, so in reality those heads only require a 135 gph pump to operate, I'll try a 250 gph pump in the next one.

Sound good , are you using 360 sprayers or 180 sprayers ? An I think I would go with a bigger gph pump because the water pressure is lower seance it is traveling throw all that pipe . Just what I think.

Hey. Those are 180s . I probably will stick with the 400 gph pump, it does just actually fit in that tote.

hey high, haven't tried the 360s because I really have no use for 360 degrees of spray, 180s do me.

Plucked about a pound of weed off the 4 plants. Not bad for a first grow if I do say so myself. Gonna use the proceeds for badly needed power board in the grow!

Round 2. Improvements include new power board to grow. Built a couple more totes and bought a couple bubble buckets . Got my light running on 240 volts now , hopefully that will cut down on the power used , summer heat isn't cheap to beat.
Gonna go buy clones tomorrow(the womans in iceland so I lost half my funding!), deciding on strains and think I have it narrowed down to sour diesel , ak47, c99, afghooey and once again euphoria unlimited( I like that strain and have to drive an hour north of here to get it). Everythings ready to go, just drop in the clones.

Round 2 strains ended up 2-purple urkle , g99, super lemon haze, skunk #1 and buddah's sister due to I drove to loveland to get the euphoria unlimited just to find they had only uninteresting strains left. The pu and g99 are in aero totes and have sprung back from the nasty issues the sensizyme gave me. I took back unused portions of b52 and voodoo juice also, not because I thought they were bad but because theres always a chance whatever shit my roots got was due to something wrong with one of the additives I used and that was one. AN advised me to take back anything I wasn't happy with or wasted due to having to h2o2 every res I have and thus wasting the fuck out of high priced bennies. I'm in negotiation now with my hydro store and AN. I found AN helpful but I wasn't really asking for help, I was asking for compensation for at the very least the voodoo juice that was wasted and they agreed to it, I then took it to my hydro store and found he was out of voodoo juice and doesn't know when more will be available(I've heard they had a bad batch thats gotta hurt at 100 bux a liter), so , its still all up in the air but I think they'll make everything right other than the harshing of my plants which really hurt, I'm convinced it was the sensizyme and will never use enzymes again. I do think I'll stick with AN but may look into this recipe one knowledgeable user ( Heisenberg , thanks buddy, I sent you a PM btw) came up with for a sort of diy bennie bucket.
