Howdy, :)

G13 / Blue Dot / Oregon Funk -- blowfish (organic grow)

I'm calling this grow a "perihelion grow" or "cold to hot grow" or "when the sun is the closest to the earth grow."

The plants have a 5 month 24/7 vegetative head start which was mostly indoors.

On February 1st, began acclimating the ladies to the outdoors when it wasn't storming. By March the plants were fully acclimated & still in a 24/7 light cycle. Sun during the day & at night CFL & fans.

Soil is an organic homemade mix - 6.6pH. Reverse osmosis water.

Comments welcomed. :)

i read on this site recently, but dont remember who wrote it, that if you keep your plants outside during the day that the intensity of the sunlight blocks out the floros at night. might be thats why they insist on flowering. look nice though

howdy, jas :)

hmm, don't know about that one. i do know the plants stay in a holding pattern just fine & do not flower until they go on a 12/12 light/dark cycle, at least with blowfish.

thanx for your comment :)

peace :)

side notes,
the shiny white stuff on the leaves is dried milk & water solution that was applied to remove mildew. they'll get sprayed one more time with milk & water prior to inducing flowering, don't want mildew rearing its ugly head during the flowering stage.

i've noticed a distinct difference between plants grown indoors versus outdoors. all things being similar, one major difference is that stems developed indoors are weaker than stems & branches exposed the the outside elements. i do not have to prop the main stems & branches on outdoor grown blowfish but necessary for the indoor plants. i'm guessing because the plants indoor are receiving CFL lights & fans as oppose to the sunshine & the strong winds we get here on the coast.

last grow i had a problem with scale & ants. this grow i've taken ed rosenthal's advice & used:

1. a solution of 1 tablespoon of ground organic cinnamon added to boiling water, remove from heat, let sit over night. strain the mixture through a t-shirt to remove all cinnamon biomass & spray the leftover solution on plants & soil the next day.
2. make a trench around the soil & sprinkle organic powered cinnamon.
-- all ants fled & have not returned plus the scale dried up & is also gone (after a few days, i hand picked off the dead scale & also used a small paint brush to remove the dead scale from stems & branches.

ladies happy.

r.i.p.

x15 pilot, Robert M. White, once called "the nation's newest space hero."

A U.S. Air Force major and record-setting test pilot at Edwards Air Force Base in 1962 he joined the elite ranks of America's four astronauts.

A 1954 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Experimental Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base, White became the first lead Air Force project pilot for the X-15 flight research program that was launched by NASA, the Air Force and the Navy. The first flight was in 1958.

White went into space as a pilot of a rocket-powered X-15 research airplane, flying nearly 60 miles above the Earth's surface and completing a conventional landing on Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards Air Force Base.

His out-of-this-world adventure earned him the distinction of being the first pilot to earn a winged astronaut rating by piloting an airplane in space.

During an eight-month span in 1961, White achieved three milestones.

On March 7, 1961, he became the first pilot to exceed Mach 4, attaining a top speed of 2,905 mph.

On June 23, 1961, he became the first pilot to exceed Mach 5, recording a speed of 3,603 mph.

And on Nov. 9, 1961, during the first full-throttle flight of the X-15, he became the first pilot to exceed Mach 6, attaining a top speed of 4,094 mph.

At a ceremony on the White House South Lawn, President Kennedy presented what had been called the nation's most treasured aviation award, the Robert J. Collier Trophy, to White and three fellow X-15 pilots.
