Purple Urkle Hempy Bucket (CFL/HPS) First Bucket.

I recently got my medical, and even though buying it has been sweet, i'd like to take a hands on approach.

When I was younger, my friends and I did some CFL growing, and actually obtained a harvest before being busted by our parents haha!

So I've done a decent amount of research into Hempy Buckets, and it seems like the most logical idea seeing as how I have little space and my budget is not huge, I can still get a nice plant going.

I obtained these seeds from a really nice bag a friend had, and I'm only going to do one at a time until i find my female.

Right now she's sprouting, planted her on February 27th, and she's already reaching for that 23 watt CFL, which I'm leaving on for about 18 hours daily.

They're in rockwool, surrounded by perlite to retain moisture in a land o' lakes large container. Any advice is welcome, especially with nutes since i'm going with GH Flora series, but i'm willing to try sometime else if it's cheaper or same price.

Day 2 after she cracked.

Standing almost an inch tall and proud, and getting very lush green. Since she's retaining moisture really well, i haven't had to water her since the start, so it's just been turning the lamp on and off.

Also, I forgot to mention in the first post that I plan on doing the 3:1 perlite/vermiculite mixture, but alot of people suggest going with pure perlite because of it's neutral PH. And i also want to make sure i don't get the perlite with fert in it (using scotts).

Here's the pics:

Day 3,

I know updating this much isn't needed at this stage, but i figured "what the hell, if SeeMore Buds can do it, why can't anyone else?".

She's doing beautiful. Little over an inch, and straight as an arrow. Never ceases to amaze me how fast these little guys can develop. Hopefully the little roots make some distance soon, the sooner they grow, the sooner i can transfer to the bucket.

Okay,

So my light fell when i was gone for a while, and burned it to death.

fail.

Luckily i just finished setting up my PC box for clones/seeds. After sprouting this seed i'm going to use the box for microbreeding. Waiting on some kush seeds to get here.

So i have a seed in the same set up under 24 hour light.

Okay,

I struck luck when my friend who gave me the seeds asked for a sprout, so the same time i germ'd the one that died i gave him one. Well he felt bad and gave it to me, so i'm germing a new seed for breeding, while i grow this sprout for the bucket in my new pc box that still needs a little work (ie; free space).

I have everything going on 18/6, and the sprout already has a quarter inch root coming out of the cube.

A week after cracking, and all is good.

If you look close, you can see it working it's way out!

cool, nice job.. i just went to my local hydro store yesterday looking for some vermiculate as i wanted to try my hand at a hempy bucket.. dude said he can't get it though, so than i just told him what i wanted to make, and he had a ready made bucket on the shelf that i picked up and am going to give a try as soon as my seeds germ..
keep up the good work.

thanks!

if you want plain vermiculite, check your local family owned hardware stores. they seem to have it more often than not.

okay, four days later, and cool beans! New leaves, the cotyledons died, and just overall growth.

Beautiful sprout, but so sad that urkle takes so long to grow.

thanks,

it really hasn't grown more than quarter inch over the past week. the past few days it's been growing the leaves like crazy.

it looks like the leaf is coming in 3's, not 7's.

i'd probably have to make a trip to the hydro store for that eh?

i was kinda hoping not to give it anything extra until the bucket.

Well your plant, being in 100% perlite has no nutes. Which is why your
cotyledons are already dead. I'm sure yellowing will be following up the
rest of your plant if some type of supplementation is not introduced soon.

well for the sprouts, i put them in 100% perlite from miracle grow which has NPK supps.

then when it gets a nice root system going, i'm going to relocate to the bucket of vermiculit/perlite (nutrient free), and then start the GH flora series.

yeah,

that's why i took caution while buying the perlite, and i accidently bought the miracle grow thinking it was nute free, but found a purpose for it!
