YAY! ANOTHER GROW! coco\perlite with 400W

Hi all.
This is my 5th grow.
I tried a few coco\perlite plants on my last grow and decided to leave the soil and move on to coco\perlite entirely.

Medium - 50% perlite and 50% coco. Local israeli brand.
Light - 45w coolwhite CFL until today and Philips Green Power 400W from today on.
Nutrients - GHE one part total gro for veg, HESI Coco for end of veg and flowering and Canna PK for end of flowering. Might get some more as I role.
Venting - 300 CFM exhaust vent, cool tube and a carbon filter with 6m of tubing. (so its not really 300CFM).
85CFM intake from the CFL veg closet and a 6" passive intake.
A 12" revolving fan will be added at around week 2 of flowering.
Water - Tap water. Usually sat 4 or more hours. Hand watering.
Temp. - ambient around 10°C right now but should get warmer as the grow goes up to 24°C. Trying to keep it in range but a bit chilly.
Quite a few of my plants died of cold when they were under the CFL.
Humidity - Uncontrolled for the moment. anywhere from 35 to 75%.
Style of growing - Aiming for a colloseum type of grow. Will probably add a screen and create a colloseum SCROG.
Space - 1mx0.9mx2.3m.
Reflection - a cool tube reflector and panda poly on the walls.
Strains -
Greenhouse Seeds - White Rhino, Great White Shark, Lemon Skunk, Cheese.
Nirvana Seeds - Blue Mystic.
All clones from previous grow.

Currently the lights are on 14/10.
They were vegged for 1-2.5 months under the 45W CFL in very small pots compared to their size.
When they will recover from the transplant they had today they will be topped.
When they pop 2 nodes after the topping they will be flipped to flowering.
They will recieve 5ml of Hesi Coco from today until the end of flowering.
At the last 3-4 weeks they will get PK as well.

I have 21 plants marked by colored drinking straws. Didn't have a 5th color so I painted the tip of the red straws black.
They are in various containers.
I have:
White Rhino - green straws - 5x7L pots, 2x2L pots, 3x1L pots. (total of 10 plants)
Great White Shark - black straws - 1x7l pot, 1x1L pot.
Lemon Skunk - yellow straws - 1x1.5L pot, 2x2L pots.
Cheese - red straws - 1x1L pot, 1x7L pot.
Blue Mystic - blue straws - 2x7L pots.

My main goal in this grow is finish with more than 320 grams of high quility buds. last run I yielded 285 grams with the same setup but mostly in soil.
My other goal is to finish with little to no popcorn buds.

I'm open for comments. I'm very far from mastering the soil-less growing or weed and aware of that.

The plants in the pictures look weird because they grew around a cooltubed CFL. The large one grew around the cooltube.
They all had below 15°C for the last month that caused quite a trauma.

Topped most of the plants.
Put 4 jiffy pellets in water to take clones from the Cheese plants as my mother died of the cold. I need another Great White Shark and another White Rhino to put in another flowering chamber to stress out and create some female pollen to make seeds with. I might not be able to keep a mother until next winter so seeds will be nice.
I have some Blue Mystic male pollen from a previous grow that I doubt its viability but I'll give it a go anyway.

In a few hours I should get back home and take the cheese tops down and make clones from them and take some side branches from the Great White Shark and from the White Rhino.

I hope I'll be able to take some better pictures as well but nothing really changed that worth a pictured update.

Plants look a bit overwatered?

Watch your area though.. Those plants will be fuckin huge in 2 months (still in veg). When they start to flower the whole place will be a jungle.. Try and make more space if you can, MJ can "feel" around itself and she likes to have a nice area to grow in.

I'm only doing 6 plants, in a bigger area than yours and it's already cramped...

Take a look for yourself - they're only about 3 months old.

Happy Farming,

-Rich

they are a bit overwatered actually. nothing major. they just look like that because they surounded the light.
They look much better today.
Nothing major however.

They have been vegged for 1-2.5 months already. They were in small pots to limit growth, cold temps and 45W CFL.
They have all been topped today and when the 2nd node after the topping will pop they will go into flowering.
I guess another week or so.

My 400W isn't enough for that space already. It efectively covers around 70X70cm of space.
I like keeping my light very close to the tops.
My plan is to cround the plants together to use as much light as possible.
After 4 runs in this closet I've decided that the way to go for me.

Ran 4 trees and 3 smaller plants on my last run. Was easier to handle but haven't suited me too well.

Thanks for your input however :D

Had the light on for 22\2 due to a timer fuck up. Got it fixed and since yesterday their on 14\10.

They react well to the topping - the first node is already forming nicely on most plants.

The light are around 2 feet over the plants which I know is very high. I'll get em down before flowering.
Don't want to fry them after 2 months under the weak CFL.
They don't strech either.

I'm trying to find something to lift the plants up rather than lowering the light as I'm already running excess air tubing.
But we'll see how it turns out.

I made some hash this week and it looks WICKED!!

I made hash before using flour sieves and it was fine, easy and fast but I just made hash by Gumby's Method.

From 15 grams of dry sugar leaves i got a wooping 1.88 grams of hash!
Thats 1\8th of the material!
I did use very very frosty leaves. I also save the trichomes that falls while trimming so that pure weight that moves to the hash.

It was very easy to make and I will use it on the rest of my leaves.

In a nut shell:
I put loads of ice in a food container, put the electric mixer in it striped to something that keeps it in place.
I put the shake with the ice and cling foiled it so it won't spill to much.
I got the mixer working for 10 minutes while randomly poking the other end to make the shake go into the mixed zone.
After 10 minutes I ripped the clingfoil out and removed the leaf matter, squeezing the excess water it held.
I let it sit for 3 hours without touching it to let the trichomes settle down.
I then used a cup to remove some of the water at the top, a syring for more and then I spread the liquid to plastic cups.
I let it sit for around 1.5 hours and started pulling water out of the cups keeping the trichomes in.
it took a while as every movement mixed the trichomes with the water.
after I got it done I put all the trichomes in one cup and pulled as much water as possible. I kept them in another cup to save any trichomes that might have mixed.
Then when it settled i pulled the trichomes from the second cup back to the first.
When I add mostly trichomes I let the cup dry out in my veg closet for 2 days.

Today it was dry enough to be pressed.
I put it in a bag, taped it and ran it over with my car.
didn't work as well as I expected so I used pliers and some plastic bars to compact the trichomes.
I had to add 2 drops of 95 proof alchohol to help it stick.

I like the end product and I'm very happy with the yield this method gave me.

I have quite a bit more shake from my last run so it will be proccessed the same and not using the sieves.

EDIT:
also made 0.15g of finger hash collected from my frozen latex gloves I kept and forgot about.
I love finger hash ;D

Things look fine.
I've lowered the lights today to 60cm from the bottom plants and 20cm from the side plants tops.
I need to get a screen soon. Once its set the room will be flipped to flowering.

I need to get some additives too when I get the chance. And replace the carbon of my scrubber.

I'm waiting on my gumby's hash to finish drying. This time had 105 grams of sugar leaves to work with.
Should finish drying by tomorrow.

I got some candies from the candy store :D
got a 1\2L bottle of HESI Root Complex, a 1L bottle of Atami B'cuzz Bloom Booster and a 1\4L of PH down.
And another L of Hesi Coco as I got only 1\2L left, which should not be enough.

Also got myself some blunt wraps by Zen Wraps of something like that. Watermelon flavoured.
I really like thoes blunts. And they only cost 4 bucks for a 25 pack. (Another reason to love them)

Also my friends there landed me their PPM meter to use with a water sample I brought.
My tap water PPM without letting the chrlorine evaporate is 335 PPM. Thats pretty low.
With 5ml\L of HESI Coco it goes up to 1050 PPM. With 10ml\L it reaches 1560 PPM.
The top dose recommanded is 5ml\L using hard water and that seems like what I'll be using.

I got the screen and need to set it up tomorrow. Then flowering begins :D
I'll take some pictures then.

Update :D

I fixed the most major light leak I had, mainly to let me sleep without the 400W burning my eyes at night.
Its not for the plants - its for me. The last run they were just fine with it.

I'm trying a new method of posting so bear with me. I'm trying to add pictures as I go.

I opened the room today and found that:

I finally had time to fix up the screen up.

I just took it and raped the plants down as I fixed it in place.
4 tops have been sacrificed in the proccess.

Next I threaded the branches in the net. Not many casualties in the proccess.

Then I did it some more.

In order to fix the plants in place I had to practice supercropping. I'd appreciate any info on how I did it. I never figured the right way to do it.

I'm halting the flowering thing a few days. I made more damage than I excepted so I'll give them a few days to recover.

I sprayed them today with 1.5ml\L of BioBizz Alg-A-Mic and 2ml\L of BioBizz Biogrow.
I'm waiting on them to completely dry out (on the first spray it took 5 minutes, the second time I gave them more spray so I'm waiting) and I'll lower the lights to their place back.

I fed them today with a mix of 5ml HESI coco and 5ml of HESI Root Complex per liter.
Used 15L of solution for the whole thing which gave about 10% runoff that the plants suck back from the "floor".

I still need to find a good way to water my plants now - i can't reach some and in a few weeks I would probably have problems reaching most.
I might just attach a hose to my water pump and use that.

Overall I like the changes I made.

The scrogging goes well. All of the plants look mighty fine except one that still needs to develop some roots and catch up. (he's in a 1L bottle and repotted little)
He shows all kinds of defficiencies but I believe it will go away in a week as it grows some proper roots.

I have trained the a bit more but it seems pretty easy once they already grow inside the screen.

I finished proccessing the trim I had left over from my last run into hash.
I made it using Gumby's method as previously shown.
Gave a total of 5.25 grams of some dank-ass hash.

I found a simple way to compress the hash after running it over with my car and using pliers failed.
I used a door hinge, put the kief inside and used presure by closing bolts into the nuts where the screws to the doorpost should go.
At the last 3 I found that using a lighter to heat the surface a BIT is benifical.
The kief have been frozen overnight to keep it as potent as possible so it didn't compress too well.

I divided the hash into ~1g pellets for easy of handling and to ease of compression.

Or to make it visual - I today made this:

(damn it looks so good this way!)

Into this:

That concludes my last grow :D

Things are going well.
I'm screening the shoots when needed and all the plants but one look really healthy and lush.

I got a lemon skunk in a 2L pot that was clipped at around week 4 or 5 of flowering. It had a nice bud on top of it.
It is now starting to shoot branches like crazy.

It took her way longer than the vegging clones I took.
I'm thinking of moving to one plant SCROG for my next winter grow so using this method will probably be very benificial.

I took some cuttings a few weeks ago. They were cold and had only 14 hours of light a day for half the time.
I got the White Rhino and the Great White Shark to sprout pretty normally.
The Cheese doesn't root as fast.
I had a clone that wasn't going anywhere and started looking like it had mold so I put him on a shelf with my fetilizers (in the veg chamber) that is pretty cold. Its a light barier shelf.
I forgot to scrape it 2 days ago and today it showed a root.
Odd.

The WR and GWS will be vegged until 4 roots or so will reach the outer part of the plastic cup.
They then will be flowered for 2 weeks and then move to a PC growcase where they will be stressed until they release pollen.
I need some seeds.

The cheese is to make up for the mother I lost to the cold.

Today is the last day of veg.
In 10 minutes the timer should turn the lights off and the light will turn on again in 21 hours.
The long darkness period should help the plants realize there is a change in light regime.

They have been watered with 5ml of Hesi Coco and 5ml of Root Complex per liter. A total of 17 liters have been used.
Then they have been sprayed with 2ml\L of Alg-A-Mic while the lights have been raised.

All of the clones rooted.
I'm waiting on one to develop more roots before the transfer.

I might put the clones in flowering sooner than I though to catch up with the main grow.

I realized my favorites were the Great White Shark and the Lemon Skunk.
The Lemon Skunk was a very poor yielder so I might cross it with my White Rhino this run around to create something that might be good.

I will not grow the Blue Mystic again. It is not in the same standarts as my other strains altho it is a great producer and a very hardy plant.

I have 2 Blue Mystic beans left and some male pollen from a previous grow.
I guess a mother isn't needed anymore.

Anyway.
The screen is about 60% filled and I think it is enough. Some plants haven't reached the height of the screen yet. When they will and after the 3 weeks of streching with the bigger plants I believe the screen will be tightly filled.

Pictures will be added later.

This is day one of flowering. Yata!! :fire:

To celebrate that I got some pictures:

I got to my room today-

The left part is more evolved -

I then looked in the veg. chamber and found that one of the clones i put in coco\perlite a few days ago had a few roots growing alongside the plastic cup.
I put it into flowering and in 2-3 weeks it will be moved to my PC torture-grow case to hermie up.

I might just use the silver thing if it wouldn't hermie up as fast as I need it to.

nice grow mcfonz. are you israeli also? i like your light and they curve shape scrog you have going on. not sure if its my style but i like it. im also a coco grower and scrog is the way to do it man. i wanted you to check out this pk thread if you havnt already i think it would be some good entertainment for you if not a little educational lol
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/289238-2000w-hps-purple-kush-scrog.html
I am currently living in israel, yes.
I always try to match the canopy top curve to the light to maximize my 400W.

I don't like all of thoes super-budget high-end state-of-the-art grows with gazilion watts of light. It has nothing at all to do with the way I grow and I never found anything in there that I can use myself.

However, i do like the pictures.
I'll check it out later.

EDIT: Its a very nice grow but it really have nothing in common with mine except the use of coco and a screen.

Just went into the room.
Budsites are showing already! It usually takes them way longer to show in my setup.

The cheese and WR clones I had in the veg room were moved to the flowering room with the GWS that was moved yesterday.

I will get pictures next time ;P

Buds are starting to appear. That fast.

Today the plants will get 5ml of HESI Coco and 5ml of HESI Root Complex.

I'm running low on the Root complex and that shit is expensive so I'll be cutting it off when I'll have around 100ml left (off of 500ml)
Each watering I use around 80ml and a 500ml bottle costs about 33 bucks.
I don't have much budget left for this grow except the 70-80 bucks for carbon that I absolutely have to get in order to finish this run.

The small clones which got to the flowering room in the past few days will get half the nutes their parents get.

Now, pictures.

Overview:

This is how my bud sites look like:

And this is how the left part looks like:

Very dense.

My plants are barely streching and this is ain't what I expected.
The screen is not filled up yet!
I'll hope they strech in the next 3 weeks like they usually do.

Anyway, I'm loving this SCROG thing, I have way more bud sites and they all recieve good emount of light.

ended up watering them today.
They didn't droop at all yet, but they seem like they don't mind being watered.

i'm gonna water them again tomorrow with a small emount of solution left and let them dry for another 6 days.

I've added to the solution 3ml of PK and 3ml of bloom booster by b'cuzz per 18 liter of solution. Thats really small emounts.
I hope it will trigger the blooming on the buds left behind.

In 2 weeks I should shave the lower stems removing the branches that doesn't poke up the screen.
I might add some ventilation but I doubt it. I'm already pretty tight with space.

Temps have been lower for the last week at around 23°C. Today it rained for half a day straight already. Its unusual.

I like temps around 27-28°C usually and I can't lower the light anymore with the current tubing to achive that.
But they should do just fine with the temps they got right now.

The last clone (cheese) have been potted and put straight to the flowering room. I will flower it normally as a little lolipop.
I want to see how big a clone that have been put to flowering just when rooting gets.
And I thought it wouldn't survive so what the heck - a bonus :D

Last watering I prepared 18 liters of solution. 5 1\2 liters of which haven't been used until today.

I accidently snapped out 2 flowering branches while training.
I guess training them when they need water is stupid. I'll train a day after watering from now on.

The streching has begun. Not crazy streching but healthy streching.
Everything looks good to me except minor N deficiency.
As they'll get pretty high N fertilizer all the way I'm ain't worried about that.

The screen is pretty much filled. when the Lemon Skunk that shot shoots like crazy will reach the screen it should be filled around 90%. A bit of training and we're good :D

I count on a 3 weeks of streching.
We're on day 7 and they have been trained pretty roughly.
I'll train them some more a day after the next watering and in the day 14 of flowering mark I'll stop the training.
The last week of streching should get the buds to the distance I want them to get from the light.

I think they look pretty damn advanced for a 7 days of 12\12. Don't they?

I got resin building up on some buds already!

Took me around 12 days to get the same results on my last run. (grew in soil however)
