Bathroom Setup - Shower DWC

what up fellow travelers....im new to the community....ive been smoking herb since i was 12 so im going on 13 years of paying for sub par medicine...im finally in a position where i can grow so im going to give horticulture a try....it is my first time.....i was watching the guy on youtube with the green paint on his skin who builds grow ops and at first i thought it was that lizard nigga from ripleys with the sliced tongue and all the tattoos and shit but then i was like nah, but then i came across jigfresh and i really liked his first set up so i think im gonna try something like that....here is a video of the space im workin with....i have a sun system 2 400 watt hps on the way and im going to use dutch masters gold series nutrients for my dwc....

so as of right now i dont have any "good" seeds and my clone connection is being a bitch so im raising these orphans right now....just some seeds that i saved here and there....im gonna cut clones on them in a few weeks and then sex the clones to see who is going to end up in the DWC that i have planned....these pics are of the seedlings about 12 days old, they have been under the 400 watt hps for 4 days now on an 18/6 cycle.....i think the soil may be a little too saturated at the moment because some leaves are curling and look dark green, it is to my understanding that this means that the roots are saturated and the leaves are putting in overtime to keep the plant alive...im guessing they will perk up once the soil drys out a bit.....any advice would be appreciated....thanks

2. To post youtube videos you do this:

Just take out the spaces I added in youtube.

All that junk in the middle being the last part of the url for each video... like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aaAeMtZVKk .... use only the stuff after the =.

thank for the info....i was wondering about the video thing because the "embed" function wasnt working.....hopefully the heads on here can assist me with my grow as they did with yours.....im thinking of starting the liquid light/penetrator spray tomorrow.....how high should i raise the light up?.....it is on chains and will be much closer than two feet once the females are in the DWC.....im thinking of putting a radio in there, what type of music do u think they'll like?....im thinkin jazz

You might not need to raise the lights at all. To be safe raise them as high as you can till the water droplets dry up. The danger is the light reflecting in the water droplets and burning the leaves. I've never had that problem, and I never had to raise my lights. But then again... they were nice and cool so that might have had to do with it.

I think jazz is good. There is actually a CD out there for plants.. I think it's called Sonic Bloom. I'm not really sure.

But yeah... they like music.

The little plants look good. Sounds like overwatering to me too. They should be fine in a couple days.

thanks.....i am still trying to get at least one clone from a friend of mine in jersey who grows some really dank nuggets, i know the strain is in the kush family....he wont give me any clones at the moment because he says he owes another guy and wants to pay him back first, the other guy has a bigger garden than my friend and doesnt need any more trees when compared to me who is starting from scratch.....oh well.....i guess im going to continue on with these seedlings.....i told my friend about the DWC that im planning and the results of your first grow with the screen, he told me not to do it and that soil is the way to go....apparently he tried a setup where the roots arent suspended in water, but have a pipe that mists water up on to them from below....these guys that i know who grow only know what they have learned in there own short experiences....i'ld rather get my info from professionals on here who see cannabis as a medicine rather than some shit to bag up and sell on the streets....this is the best forum....thanks jig

the leaves are really starting to sprout out....a few plants are doing better than the others....hopefully a majority of them are females but i shall care for all of them until i find out.....the soil really dried out in the past day and a half, i added some more water to the tray they are sitting in, they soak up from beneath....the leaves perked up in about 30 minutes after that.....today i started my foliage spray, dutch masters liquid light and gold penetrator....i mixed 16 ounces of h20 with 2tbsp of each and sprayed it on very generously, im gonna finish up the rest of what i mixed later tonight....i doused a few houseplants in it too....they are really liking the hps light, much better growth than the cfls that they were previously under....hopefully i can cut some clones by christmas.....here are some pics before the light came on...peace

I think your light is just fine. Seedlings can be hardier than we think, and I am an example of that. I have taken seedling to hell and back, and they still end up growing, so it's all gonna work out fine.

Comments, the pots with more than one plant, change that. Try and get them all in seperate pots if possible. I have one just now, but it is twins that came from one seed so I am leaving them. But I would only add two plants in the same pot much later on in life (and it has to be a big pot.) The longer you leave them, the more of a mare it will be to seperate (especially if you are left with - one of the plants, male and one of them, female - would be tricky.)

Looking good so far. I saw you were wondering about the light, I had a 400w hps and I would just use the back of my hand to figure out a good distance, if it feels too warm on the back of your hand your too close.

And as far as soil and hydro go, everyone argues what the best way is. Hydro can be intimidating, I used an aerogarden to get familiar with it, but soil for my grows. After watching jig's hydro set up I am gonna make the switch for my next grow, whenever that time comes around. It grows quicker, the buds are bigger and dwc is SO easy. I have heard something about crop failure being an issue with hydro, but I'm not sure how that works.

Oh and one more thing I was thinking about when reading thru this thread, if your only cloning to sex the plants, they will show they're sex if you let them veg long enough, mine usually took about 4-6 weeks before you could see a little ball sac or the first two pistils with a magnifying glass.

Looking good there mayne. I'm with treehigh here, I'm a predominant soil guy but after seeing jigs setup I've been buzzing with hydro ideas. I want the quick growth. I know I'll sacrifice some taste but oh well... I'll be looking.

I added another fan in there to see what it would do for temps, this ones a little bigger....stayed around 77F at plant level, it was about 84F before the 2nd fan was added....the little ones are in heaven....i checked on them right before the hps clicked on and the leaves appeared to be reaching out like they were trying to give each other hugs, at that time the temp was 75F and humidity around 45%....i want to re-pot the bigger ones this weekend maybe, depends on if i can get some more soil....thanks everyone for the support, thanks jig

duct tape is one of the most under-appreciated inventions of the modern age, it got macgyver out of a countless jams...statistically proven to be a best seller in the demographic of people with screw/nail/adhesive phobias...and #1 choice for most kidnappers/rapists (only the ones that matter) for the latter half of the 20th century.....im putting the clones in the hydroton rocks and keepin the mothers in soil for the time being...i'll keep an eye out for the sex to show

i came across jig by way of youtube....i was planning on doing an ebb and flow system until i saw the simplicity of jig's setup and the outcome....hopefully i can get similar results, im gonna use the dutch masters gold series of nutes....thanks

close proximity to water source and drain...plus its an easy cleanup...if u have more than one bathtub/shower in ur home i'ld say go for it
