Exhaust fan on the bottom of the tent

My very first post and also first time growing here.

I have a tent 2'x4'x5' that I'm using a few LED lights, 4" Vortex fan with a carbon filter. The tent is in my garage and the garage stays around 60-75 degree and a bit warmer during summer. I have my small plants sitting on top of the shelf rack inside of my tent and it's about a foot off the ground.

I know pretty much everybody put exhaust fan and suck the air out through the top vent to get rid of excess heat but I actually don't need to exhaust any heat out of my tent (just air circulation). LED lights don't generate any heat at all.

So my question is can I set the exhaust fan on the floor under neat the shelf to suck out air from the tent and blow out through the bottom vent? I tape shut all the passive intake on the bottom and let the air flow in passively from the top vent for circulation. Is that ok? Why or why not?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Even if you don't have temp problems, there are still temperature gradients within your tent. This means that with both intake and exhaust at the same level you will not exchange all the air in the tent you will just have a cross draft that will only clean the bottom third of the tent. Your air path needs to cross the various gradients to create an airflow that will continuously replace nearly all the air in the tent, and not just part of it. If you have fans running in the tent it will help quite a bit, and you could get by with it. Peace & be kind.

Actually I set my exhaust fan on the bottom right of my tent and sealed all the passive intake except the on near top left of the tent. Would that be enough to create the proper air flow? I will pick up a liltle circular clip on fan tomorrow. Thanks

if you had to do it, you had to do it. just make sure the passive hole is 3-4x bigger than fan hole

I have my passive intake and exhaust on the bottom with an oscillating fan in the tent with no problems at all. Also, the passive intake is 4" and the exhaust is 6" with a 435 cfm running at 60%. You will be good with your setup IMO.

My tent is 5x5, and yes I am using a solid state speed control to back off to about 60%. I also have my setup in my garage but this time of year the temps outside are about 30-40F. Sounds like you are in a warmer climate. You may need more airflow to keep the temps in check and that may require a larger passive intake maybe 6". I would set it up without a fan on the intake and if needed add one to increase airflow.
I highly recommend a speed control, it really allows you to dial in the temps to where you want them.
