Tourism Australia seem to be spending loads advertising your country here (UK) with ads on TV and at the movies. They have already run into problems using the slogan "where the bloody hell are you" and it sounds like you and your pic will further undermine their efforts .

Ah yes, we have lots of biteys, but we also have some wicked bud to make up for it .

That spider I mentioned though, even though it's big, it's quite harmless to humans. It's rather run away than bite. However, the web it builds is strong enough to hold small bats and birds.

FWIW, that 'Where The Bloody Hell Are You' ad campaign is bloody ridiculous. As with the general theme of this thread before we strayed , I find using half naked bodies to sell things a little puerile.

I'm tempted to post some of our spider photos from here in Oz. I have one where my partner has her open hand next to it. The spider is a Golden Orb Weaver and stretches as big as her hand. It's abdomen is about 4 cm long (around 2 inches). I might find one later if anyone is interested in checking it out. It may even help Florida Girl and Celestial with their phobias. They could print the pic and stick it next to their monitors. Exposure therapy... //smile//

So far, in my life, there has been one "bug" that I have not been able to handle by hand -- scorpions. For some reason I start shaking, and even if those big African beauties aren't stingy, I just can't seem to stop the damn shaking and that alone might cause them to sting. I probably shouldn't handle any spider that might require antivenon because I believe most all antivenons are made the same way and I was dosed with CroFab back on '01. They told me if I'm ever bitten by a rattler again I get to just tough out the pain.

In the end everybody thinks everybody should be a certain way. As long as its possible i say let everybody do what they want. The avatars here really arent that bad. We dont have any real hard core pictures, whats wrong with a boob avatar? I understand how you feel but we really need to stop trying to censor all the little crap just because theoretically there may be people who would not like something.
Hell i dont like many things i read or see every day but the world would suck ass x 10 if we all had to censor everything because some people might not like it
