would you ever stop smoking?

would you ever stop smoking for a mate? .. I respect RIU and the RIU community. I just wanna get your opinion and thought on this subject.

Reason I ask I just got out of a relationship with a woman who was a type one diabetic who enjoyed a drink from time to time. Yet she had a big problem with me smoking. I sent that hypocritical bitch packing. :finger:

But don't let my reason for asking influence your answer please tell me why you would or wouldn't quit for a mate?:bigjoint:

If my smoking effected my abilities to provide income or lend a helping hand around the house, then I could understand a significant other having issue with this, but otherwise I wouldn't stop because they would just be trying to change part of what makes me, me. I thought they wanted to be with me, not some other version of me after they get done checking and unchecking boxes, fuck that shit.

I've gone years without smoking but it was my first drug and the one that I now truly love the most, You would have to pry the bong from my cold dead hands before I quit. Also I would not get into a relationship where the other was not a smoker.

something pretty drastic would have to happen to get me to stop smoking. few few things can influence that part of my life.

For me, it completely depends on the reasoning behind it... if my SO offers a legitimate argument against it, I would absolutely consider quitting if I loved him. And by legitimate argument I mean if I've let my habit get out of control or negatively affect my life/his life somehow. If he wanted me to quit because smoking is "unattractive" and "bad for you" or "I act stupid when I'm high" then I wouldn't quit, I'd just smoke less around him lol.

My wife would probably leave me if I stopped smoking, because then I would probably stop growing and she loves my herb. Sometimes I think my gardening skills is what she loves most about me.

I'm just much nicer to be around, so I would never stop for some one besides me.
A friend of mine is diabetic and swears the more weed he smokes the less insulin he uses.

Probably not. I wouldn't be able to get through work without some seriously debilitating back, and neck pain. Drunk driver hit me 3 or so years ago. Broke my c4, and ruptured two discs (c5, c6). I'm no fun without a little tincture, and/or a dab every other few hours. It can get rough.

Bitch should love you for who you are.

It's okay to change yourself, but don't ever let anyone force you into change.

It carries a certain level of (deep hostilities) but like discontent feelings towards them and the relationship.

No.

And it's nothing to do with me wanting to smoke that bad, I went many years without MJ because my job required me to have a CDL (Commercial Drivers Lisc) and was subject to random testing. No problem with that, it was a great job and I signed on knowing the Federal rules on CDL's.

I'd never get into a relationship with anyone who had a problem with it though. I could care less if they wanted to partake or not. The issue is being judgemental and inherently critical of my lifestyle choices. I am who I am, take me or leave me, but at 56 yrs old I think I can make my own choices whether you with agree with them or not.

My mate would leave ME if I stopped smoking.

I can't empathize. I can say that we talked about it and she knows I'd miss her if she gave me the choice, and I'd miss her if I quit.
