How can you delete a thread?

I started a thread in politics, "Poverty in the US", which seems to be of no interest. How do I go about deleting it. Thanks for you help.
 
So you started a new thread to find out how to delete another? I dont think it's my area so contact the moderator for the political section and get them to clear both of these.
 
after 72 hours you loose the ability to edit or delete. than youll have to contact a mod. but i did it for you.
