good gaurd dog

hey guys not sure where to post this so figured i throw it in here.. wondering what kind of dogs you guys reccommend? ive grown up with labs and pointers but now that i have my gardens im looking for a dog that is loyal to his home that doesnt shed like crazy..( i know all do)

heres what im looking at so far any imput on these dogs would be great!

American Staffordshire Terrier
pitbull
american bulldog

was trying to advoid pitbulls as i know they are banned alot of places so wasnt sure if the other dogs i listed are under the same classification?

Never had a pit or knew anyone that did. Have had Rottweilers and Dobermans: both good guard dogs. I found the Rott's to be a little more laid back.

A good pit wouldn't make a good guard dog, because they are/should be breed to be, none human aggressive.

You can't go wrong with a well trained Rotti and I’ve always liked the look of the brown Doberman.

Wrong. A good pit will protect their family to the death. I have three and some company wont come any closer to my house han the front sidewalk. I do agree tho that rotts and dobermans will also be excellent guard dogs.

I own a Great Dane and all I can say is size is intimidating and if anyone ever fucks with my dog her bite is around 750lbs. Also my friend has an American Pitbull terrier very great bitch that's all I can say. My next dog will be an American Pitbull Terrier just because I wont have to spend 100 bucks a month on food and wont slobber all over the place

its a serious thing to get a serious dog.You're neighbors may all turn on you,hate you and try to run you off.My pit sucks at guard duty.She's to nice.My neighbor's bitch,well you get outta the car-you get bit.I gave her roast beef and she bit me while eating it

When I was young my friends had dobermans and rottweilers and god damn I was so fucking scared to hang out at their places, because one time I held a fake gun that was solid metal at a friend and his dog attacked me. I dunno if dogs know that guns are deadly weapons but it sure seems like they do, my dog barks like crazy when I hold a gun and tries biting the gun lol.

The German Shepard is the best guard dog we've had so far, other dog was a Sheep Herder and she did a pretty good job but was smaller.
A German Shepard is born raised and bred to guard, it doesnt even like to do anything else then just lay on the porch or next to its boss just guarding..
I wouldnt recommend any other dog since i dont know anything about their characteristics, German Shepards are really intelligent they learn very fast and arent really dominant unless you are one of those idiots on dog whisperer

I know its not on your doggy list but if you want a dog that loves you more then it loves itself, Would be able to kill a man in seconds AND does funny stuff when doing nothing you should really get a German Shepard.

thanks for all the great input guys! also been looking into the dobermans.. i just know they shed a little more than i like judging by my dads lol but still a great dog! im stuck idk what to get lol

IMO,everyone should be trained with a firearm.They are gonna have one to take your dog out

lol o i am trained well with guns.. born and raised into a hunting family which is why this sucks.. choosing to either have my garden or to have firearms.. not worth the extra felony if you get busted..

Try a presa canario? I help a buddy mow on my off days and one customer(single good looking gal) has one.i would be on the mower and he made me nervous by just watching me..once the customer met me and basically introduced me to her dog the pooch was fine.she Said she wanted a dog that would bond with her and watch over her hobby farm,says she couldn't be happier..

Before pitts got there bad name a friend of mine took, me to visit a friend of his who had a house full of them, they were the most balanced dogs you could wish to find, they welcomed you into the house, that's a good pitt (non human aggressive).

German shepherds are good guard dogs.. you can't sneak past a german shepherd, and you sure as hell aren't going to outrun one either. they also have very heightened senses and can sense emotion pretty dang good.. they know when someone is afraid of them or is nervous.. kinda lets you know who to keep an eye on.

Mugglestons in calis got some killer pitts. mean lookin, but nice as can be.

but i would recomend a doberman. they are fast, strong, and the #1 thief deterent. they are well know, and are known to guard spots with their lives.

that said, if you ever get raided, the one time will shoot your dog. they see a big dog, they shoit. they are serving what they to believe to be a high risk warrent.

they should go bust down a coke dealers door. now thats high risk. instead of a stoner telling them to chill, then they be at risk.

who knows what the fuck a cokehead thinks/dosent think

I own a Labrador, and my next dog will be a German Shepard. I've already begun the process, in my head at least . I'd like 2 of them actually. My buddies play hide and seek with each other in their huge yard. I freeze up when in their presence, so you have to think a thief would think twice if they might actually get bit with those teeth.
