When do your plants start to smell?

My last 4 plants have given off very little and intermittent odor, and I was just curious, because I am doing an indoor this time, and I keep reading about filters, smell, etc.

I'm in week 6 of flower now and the room smells quite a bit when i walk in but after that i don't
notice it much. Have to smell the plant itself to smell the funk sometimes.

The reason you do not smell it being in the room awhile is because the membranes in your nostril that cause you to smell get used to it and therefore allow you to smell new things that might come into the air. Your body does this because it is your instinct to do so I guess. Your guess why we do it would be as good as mine. What I notice is after I take a bong hit of different weed I can automatically smell the odor my plants are giving off. Without taking a bong hit or leaving the room for awhile I have to actually walk up to them and stick my nose in there for the smell.

Some of the strains I have going have started to smell once the plant showed its sex, the other started smelling more around the second week maybe?

It is all dependent on strain.

Depends on strain man. For instance this is my first grow (2 strains) and the Kali Mist stank out my house during 2-3rd week of veg lol. The other strain just stinks out the room and is over 2 months in veg lol.

Depends on the strain of marijuana, in my case from 5th week of veg I can smell the resisn of my plants quite bad. 4 , 7 week of flower its really smelly enen with a big Ass extractor unit.

All ways invest in quality units for removing the air ( holding the smells ) out of your property

+1 to Jay and Nutty. I have Kaliman Seeds Cheese Tease and it starts to smell about 3 weeks after seed pop. People look at me funny when I give them a clone and tell them to smell it. Skunky from the get-go! Oh and by the way...I got ALL my Kaliman seeds from Attitude and I have NO REASON to believe they are fake.

On the other side of the spectrum, I have a couple killer strains that don't even smell in flowering unless you brush past them or touch them.

Thanks guys, I am just feeling a bit left out, since mine don't smell.
To me, I actually enjoy the 'growing' smell a little more than the 'burning' smell.
I sniff mine every day, hoping for a whiff of them.

its important to scrub veg air as much as flowering air. even strains that don't smell like their end state during veg still give off a unmistakable chlorophyll scent that's a dead giveaway of a grow op. be safe.

I was going to say the same as The Growery. I've got 3 plants in veg and at times there is a definite chlorophyl odor. For whatever the reason may be, it seems to hit mine in the early evening hours, or about 14 hours into the daily light cycle. And even then it is not consistent every day. To be sure, you definitely want an outside sensitive nose to judge. Luckily, my wife is all too happy to let me know loud and clear when it smells :-)

I planted my girls in soil on the 25th of December. They are about 8-10 inches tall and have about 9 sets of leaves and I can already smell them. I think the smell during flowering might be a problem this time. Lol.

Usually smell starts coming on strong week 2-3 of flowering, when the buds start showing up in force. It will only get worse (better?) from there.

During veg it shouldn't be too outrageous.
