Suboxone = haluc?

So I've been using suboxone for about...4 or 5 years now. Maintence from a nasty oxy heroin habbit. Now...I was readsing somewhere that it attaches to the same receptors as salvia? (besides the opiate receptors obsly)...now...I NEVER "tripped out" on subs, but then again I have a high tolerance by now. Anyone know about this?

now although im not sure about the receptors being the same as salvia i do know alot about subs and have been on them myself for a few years. IMO i dont think its anything of the same or sort. suboxone is an antagonist opiate so in a sense its the same as other opiates except it does have some different effects. i shouldnt be the say all end all on this subject but i do know quite a bit and would be surprised if salvia and subs worked on any receptor the same way or anything of that sort. best of luck with your opiate addiction as well i know how terrible it can really be. im still pickin the pieces of my life back up after that shit...touchy subject for me.

just because it has parts that attach to some of the same receptors as salvia doesn't mean it's a hallucinogen. it doesn't make you trip at all (me or anybody i've met), so I wouldn't call it a hallucinogen. I was on subs for over 2 years. they replaced my oxy addiction. it was a lot more manageable. But, I'm glad to be free from those as well. Any opiate addiction sucks balls. and actually sub withdrawal lasted a lot longer than any other withdrawal I've been through. 1.5 months. 14 days no sleep. that's when the hallucinations start lol

I had some Stadol once ... mixed agonist/antagonist. It affected me in a somewhat deliriant manner, which i never got from the straight agonists. but there was nothing psychedelic about it. Jmo. cn

Did you go cold turkey off the subs or gradual reduce? Because 14 days is a LONG time. what was the dose you stopped at?

i dont know what the doc told you bro but sub w/d is really long. last time i tried to quit subs i was sick for about 2 monthes...little longer i think, you should do some research on what sub really is. not what everyone says about it. goodluck

Bupe is a mixed agonist/antagonist at the mu opioid receptor (responsible for pain relief and and euphoria). Meaning it will act as an antagonist if you're on full agonists like oxy or heroin and throw you into withdrawal it acts as an agonist by itself at low to medium doses. It's why it has rapidly diminishing effects as you up the dose past about 16mg.
It is also a full agonist at the kappa receptor, which is the same receptor that Salvinorin activates. It is a much less potent agonist though. Kappa can cause hallucinations when really activated, but less activation is mainly felt as a stimulant effect. Many people have difficulty sleeping when starting on bupe. Oxy also has some effects at kappa (though much less than bupe), which is why it is a somewhat stimulating opioid when compared to say morphine with much less kappa activity.
I'm pretty sensitive to kappa effects and when I started on bupe it had a slight effect, a kind of primal stimulation that went away in the first two days or so but was pretty marked when I started.

I stopped at a rather high dose of 16mg/day. when w/d kicked in I took 1mg, and flushed the rest of my sub stash. bought 100 xanax bars, bunch of bud, and kicked at home. I had a few other supplies like immodium, and alcohol. I couldn't drink the alcohol for a few weeks due to fucked up stomach. that 14 days was long..... but that was just the worst part. it still was shitty for over a month. I'd recommend anybody to taper before kicking. I've never been good at tapering. the only thing that tapering worked for me is nicotine
