Prisoner in question:

Is costing the tax payers tons of money ($20,000 - $50,000 /yr depending on facility and security level).

Me:

Did not murder anyone
Not costing state anything. In fact the government is taking some of my wages in order to pay to incarcerate the aforementioned murderer.
Bullshit
Propaganda & lies

Anyways, there's no reason to start talking shit on people who have low skill jobs. Someone's gotta do them.

Call me a blue blood, but I don't see anything wrong with someone making a living with a menial job.
And wouldn't it be good to have robots or prisoners do them so free citizens could perform a higher skill level of work?

I'm not sure if you've heard, but we can use all the jobs we can get right now.

I regularly see middle aged men working at fast food jobs or delivering pizza.

But if those jobs existed then, sure.

As long as it didn't drive down wages or take away jobs from free citizens, then cool.

It varies by state. Minimum wage in my state is $7.40/hour.
What is a $? Again you have no clue.
You earn less than seven dollars and forty cents an hour. You earn less than seven dollars an hour which is minimum wadge. What is a dollar? What do you earn? If you don't earn minimum wadge why should a prisoner?

Then where does the money come from?
Their is none involved.
The currency is just numbers typed into a computer or at best paper printed, there is no money and certainly no dollars involved. They are using debt to finance the prisons your taxes are being used to service interest on the debt so that they can borrow more using the promise of your future labor as collataral

Currency no longer has an intrinsic value for a VERY good reason. You can't just print more gold when times get tough.

maybe your just uneducated\uninformed.
Q- What's a dollar?
Ask Alexander Hamilton
He did define it
I am educated, but I have serious questions about your education. I know what hamilton defined the dollar as, which equated to some quantity of silver (that I don't remember off hand).

I still don't see your point. You live in a fantasy world. Regardless of how the dollar has been defined historically, it is what it is. I need them papers with dollar signs on them in order to pay my bills, just like everyone else.

When they get out, there given jobs and regulations/probations and such. If you can't spend what's not on your books why would you even want money? For what? They get paid in cigarettes and weed...

If they do, i will purposely go to jail. Sounds easier than getting a job on the outside...
Shit... my buddy in one of those private facilities gets cable and has an xbox. (xbox not provided by the prison)

EDIT: I think he said he get's paid 9 cents an hour? Sounds low, but I think that's what he said. Actually, I think he makes more than that, but some goes to pay stuff back. I also never knew when you send a prisoner money they take some of it for payment or some shit.

I did a few years in the 90s.My best paying job was 1.35 a hour.Hard Labor.Seriously hard work.Minimum wage woulda been nice. That way you could pay your fines, fees, commissary and have a buck or two if you are lucky enough to walk outta there. If you were a lifer nut had a min wage job you wouldn't be worthless to your wife and kids or in some case victims.
Just think some a-hole harms someone you know. Then they have to work 40 hrs a week to only fork over most of it in pay back. For the inmates whole life. They don't retire.LOL
