Northern Light Blue & Tangerine Dream LED Grow

I have been vegging this NLB and TD (both grown from feminized seed) for about 2 months. Placed both into the LED flower tent on 10/21. This will be my third grow and the first that I have done with the amount of topping and training I have done to these two plants. Feeding Roots Organic nutrients.

1 week into flower. Nothing spectacular. Took these shots when I took them out of the tent to do some trimming - these pictures are before the trimming.

First, these are some plants vegging for the future - FR: Chemdawg; FL: Purple Wreck; BR: Arjan's Ultra Haze #1; BL: Northern Light Blue clone



This is the C99 I grew from seed that is awaiting some room in the flowering tent - recently super-cropped her some so she is recovering.



This is the Tangerine Dream currently in the flowering tent. She stayed really compact with very tight internodes so stretching hasn't been too big of an issue as of yet. Have her branches tied down to try and control that a little.



And here is the Northern Light Blue - she is kind of a monster. The roots must be intense because you water her a ton and in less than a full day you lift her and she is super light and bone dry again. She has around 10 main tops and she also has undergone quite a bit of LST to try and control the height.



Have a ways to go, but once the NLB finishes (which should be about 2 weeks before the TD is done due to the Indica vs Sativa genetics) I will replace her with the C99.

Thanks! It was my first try at it. Only my 3rd grow. I watched a shitload of videos and then just winged it. Ha ha. So far so good. I wound up trimming quite a bit of stuff that was under the thick canopy I was able to coax out of these two.

yup, its a good i dea imo to trim under growth. helps stimulate a more vigorous growth of the tops.

Did some trimming on them as well. Don't know if I did it all right. But it does look like a kick ass topiary, so I've got that going for me . I was able to leave a lower branch on the Northern Light Blue (on the left in the pics) by weaving the top up into the middle. It was definitely showing signs of light deprivation but it is already starting to get lush again since it is now in direct light.

its kinda too late, but thos pots are too small... you can still do it ( carefully ) but as is rt now later you will have to water a lot and keep a very very close eye on it getting too dry. they look as though they may already be root bound or at least well on their way to it. if possible i would transplant to atleast a 3gal.

I would say that from the looks of things you have pretty much gotten the hang of things. It looks great so far! I will have to keep an eye on this one.

Thanks for the advice guys! I do have some 3 Gal pots and will transplant these two. Do you think it would be okay to transplant these into the pot with only coco making up the difference? Just checking as I have a bunch of coco currently and could do it immediately rather than waiting until I can go out and get more soil this weekend.

yeah man ill bet you water often... although my led doesnt run NEARLY as hot as hps. really cool in the room except sometimes it fucks up my vision.

i dont see why it wouldnt work. to use the coco as a filler. the root ball shud be strong enough, you will get a little bit of growth loss because of stress but nothing detrimental..

Transplanted them both into 4 Gal pots that I had on hand using the coco as the filler.

you gotta make sure you purchase the right leds from the right company to ensure quality. plus there seems to be a wattage thing.... like 180x 1w bulbs is better than 60x3w bulbs. there is an led section under lighting in the forum.

I have found that a lot of the negativity towards LED is based on the older generation of technology. Make sure you check the dates of the comments and reviews. The latest generation of lights have come a long way. Mine aren't the best, but I will be purchasing newer lights soon so these will have to do for now. Make sure you do some research on wavelengths, etc. You will notice that a lot of manufacturers have now added white lights to their LED's which I would definitely recommend. I will be adding some T5 HO's in here just to round out the spectrum a little. I can tell you that I have completed two grows with these exact lights and they have worked well. Maybe not well by commercial-grower standards, but that is not why I am doing this. I grew a few Blueberry plants last round and they are so sticky that you can't let go of the buds hardly, you have to use your other hand to peel it off your hand . I will also say that I have noticed that - at least with my lights - about a week longer than what the breeder/seedsman is typical - the trichomes don't seem to go amber at quite the same rate as the light is not as intense in a lot of the more unused (by the plants) light wavelengths that something like HPS would put out which seems to slow down the degradation of the trichomes.

Again, do some research - there is a lot out there, including comparisons grows between HPS and LED which have yielded surprising results. But THC&STDs4All is right, it is very dependent upon the light your purchase. Don't get a Chinese-made piece of shit.

actually some of the most top quality LED are made in China, it's just the mass produced ones aren't. There is a polish company that's very very good at LED's, i will be back to this thread when i have the big daddy (or small daddy) of LED
