I thought I saw Uranus

i was just outside closing the gates, looked up and saw Uranus http://www.astronomy.com/stardome.aspx

looks like we are gonna have some nice meteor showers too

i love looking at the stars, especially when i'm high

we have great night skies, really dark, clear enough to see satellites

often we gather up some friends and family members, munchies, cool smoke and head out on the water

any one else a moon child? any cool places you go to get a nice view of our heavens?

If it's the reallybrightone nestled between caput Tauri and the "potato" of Auriga, that's Jupiter. Uranus is not visible to the naked eye, and neither is Myanus, unless you have tremendous powers of persuasion, and a white Porsche. cn

<edit> I am a rather passionate amateur astronomer. i'm grabbing glass to see if I can spot Ouranos proper. cn

yay! I SAW it! Through my 10x70s, with my handy old Sky Atlas 2000.0 as a reference. Old Blue is at about 1 degree and change north, right ascension 0h25ish min. cn

when i was 8 i saved enough money to get a small telescope from the hardware store
i remember my grandpa staying up with me to watch the stars, been hooked since then
i just heard a litter of coyotes pups yapping out back, they sound like they are having fun
i love the sun but something about the night air makes me feel more awake

SIRI is the iphone voice! I fired her ass. She always wanted to "shall I check the internet for you". Drove me nuts. She's fun to ask off the wall questions of.
