I read in a magazine about using a 12-1 light cycle. Anyone else tried it? If you haven't heard about it, it is a veg. cycle that uses 12 hours of light, 5.5 hours dark, 1 hour light, 5.5 dark.

I tried it when my chiesel to see if it would stay in veg. and it does work. It was the first time grow with chiesel so I don't know if it streches bad or not, however when thrown into flower, streaching was minimum. Also, bushed out very nicely.

Anyone else played around with this light cycle?

I did a full cycle with it, if you actually read the whole thing there's a change in the flower period as well. Every week after the first 2 you take a half hour off. So at the end your only running like 10 or 9 hours of light. From what I've experienced I lost some weight because of it. But it saves you money on electricity and shit, so if you think it's worth it then go for it. But IMO I'd prefer to pay the extra 20 30$ in electricity and pull the extra weight. It's all in my journal I think it's the first 30 pages or something.

Didn't see the part about cutting back into flower. I didn't do that part and the buds were nice and fat.

Mostly curious about seeing if it would work for staying in veg. Never noticed any stress from the plant.

Yeah I did a run without doing the light cut back while my buddy did the full cycle. I still came up shorter then my average.

What timer did you use?

A digitial timer with up to 8 programs (on and off) I use it with everything, supports up to 1200 watts. I believe it made by Hydrofarm or something like that.

That's crazy! Didn't they say it would increase yield by 10% or something like that? "They" do talk alot, mostly bs though.

Lol, no it's nit an increase. I mean if you kinda think about it your shaving off light, if you shave off the time of light then you'll yield less, it's like comparing growiing inside to outside, you'll never find a bulb that's as strong as the sun, that's why outdoor plants can yield as much as a room full of plants. I've seen a single plant hit 6 lbs outdoor versus the same exact strain indoor only able to produce a qp. I could be wrong but during the flower period you need the firm 12 hours to maximize your yields, when you start cuttin off time you'll loose weight. Maybe when I get my nutes fully dialed in an stop all my trial runs, I'll re-do the light cycle.
