Chocolope Report

i did a 6-chocolope las yr,yield was avg.1oz per 2 gallon container, not bad,but the buds smelled and tasted like chocolate toffee dank, def deserves another run.

Anybody know what an average growing time like for the sativa dominant chocolope might be like? I'm not sure about the quality of my genetics, as they were clones from a dispensary, but the 'chocolope' I have seems to grow at the pace of molasses. I have grown straight thai sativa before, with a 14 week flowering time, but I didn't think Chocolope would quite be like that. In my system, I have gotten excellent and mature yields from most sativa hybrids in 9-10 weeks, but the Chocolope I have seems to be at least 2 or 3 weeks behind her Maui sisters that were induced at the same time (my girls just finished week 6). Again, not too sure about the genetics, for some reason it was easier to get good strains before MMJ was around here.... I just ordered my first seeds from a seed bank, so I am stoked getting F1 or F2 stock again.

*edit*
when I say grows at the pace of molasses, I mean specifically bud growth. Overall size terms, she is around the same big stature as her sisters (large bucket DWC, and if they weren't tied down they would easily be in the 5-6' range. The buds are plentiful, they just seem wispy and exceptionally slow on the growth and ripening.

I agree the buds grow a little slower and dont get that huge size like some strains, but stoney and tastey good. What kind of light are you using and what kind of humidity are you dealing with? Because my buds were quite dense.

Sorry about the delayed response, I was out of town and with a company laptop, which I prefer not to use for this type of thing. I use a 1000 watt on a rail, and it's a brand new bulb, but I think I am actually having a slight heat issue. I have kind of a difficult situation, as I am actually helping some disabled friends grow, and not myself, but I have some decent skills, I just have a living and work situation that prohibits me from having a full time grow of my own. I'll include some pictures from my last personal grow, before I had to shut down and move, they are of some Durban Poison and Island Sweet Skunk buds in their very last week or two of flowering. They are taken with this awesome 35x digital microscope that is USB powered and shaped like a little blue egg. I forget who makes it, but it is awesome. Anyhows, after doing some more extensive temperature monitoring, I have found that after adding a carbon filter, despite adding another circulating fan, I am having some slight heat issues. I have been noticing more lankiness on my newer flowered plants and I think that the Maui might just handle the heat better. On a related note, I just got my first seeds from an actual seed bank, and am totally stoked. I will probably keep updates on that.

i personally don't care about pics... i'm still jerking off to the smoke report! i want to try chocolope myself. i wonder how the flavor would match with tart cherry buddha's sister. chocolate filled cherry sounds nice.

thanks a bunch for sharing the experience. chocolope is definitely on my to do list now. i've liked the quality of DNA gear every time. their sweet haze is a couple steps nicer than a bunch of typical jacks & hazes i've tried, their lemon skunk is nicer than Sk#1, especially in the buzz and even if their sour cream has a mild stone, it has a delicious aroma. i'd expect their choc to be special too and your report confirms it.

i hope more people pick it up and start making crosses with it. the buzz might suffer it were crossed with sour cream, but i bet the flavor would be nice cheesy milk chocolate

go with chocolate rain from sannies
not if you don't like indicas one bit. chocolope is more my SPEED (pun intended)

Thanks for the kind words Hazey. I liked it so much I am doing it again and making sure to make even more seeds. I like your idea of crossing with the tart cherry buddha. MMMM yum.

My buds didnt get super fat or grow as fast as other strains but the taste and high was really nice. And the smell oh god the smell.

Yeah, I have two chocolopes in late flowering atm, and walking into my room the chocolate smell hits you in the face like a sack of bricks. It is outrageous. And awesome.

I just bought a 6 pk of DNA Chocolope Kush from Aaron... he told me the chocolope to a kosherkush was the cross... Supposed to keep yield and taste of Chocolope with power of Kosher... waiting to pop beans for another 2 weeks and ill do a journal.

I was on youtube looking at Chocolope harvest and grows and said fuck it and started the seeds lol. 3 Choco Kush and 2 OG#18s. Hoping for a nice C99 male to cross into the mix when those seeds get here from Mosca.
