Subwoofer CFL Micro Grow

  • Hey everybody!! Some of you might know me from the outdoors section, but today im gonna share my first ever indoor micro grow.
Ive got a hollowed out subwoofer box with mylar on all sides, and either 2 or 3 CFLs (I need help on this one). I soaked 3 seeds in water, 1 Lemon Kush and 2 mystery strains I got for free from my dispensary. 2 of them popped but I threw all 3 of em in the soil today. Im using Uni-Gro organic mix, it has pretty much everything necessary in it, it holds moisture but also drains pretty good.. im getting good results with my outdoor grow.

Now ive got some questions. Im pretty informed on light spectrums with CFLs and all that, but, can I use 2 6500k CFLs during veg? Or should I use 1 6500k and one 2700?? Its possible to use 2 6500s and 1 2700 but its a tight squeeze and the bulbs are touching. Can that hurt them? Also, do I need to have the lights on right now since the seeds havent sprouted? Or can they just chill?

Any comments/questions/advice will be appreciated guys. BTW im going all organic, I wont be using any liquid nutrients or anything so plz dont recommend them to me.. except for Maxsea, I already know about that from my outdoor experience.

Your going to need some ventilation in there, I don't see an intake or an exhaust fan. you can probably get away with using a small computer fan for an intake and have the box passivley exhaust itself.

Your girls with need fresh air.

Also the more light the better, try and get another warm white cfl for veg and switch it to the cool whites for flower.

Stuff as many lights in there and monitor temperature. That also means throwing a thermometer in your box, as close to the canopy as possible.

What are the dimentions of your box? Seems like its gonna be a tight squeeze

Cool grow, looks like a nice space. Going to need to scrog the hell out of them for them both to fit though.

Also the seedlings dont need any light until the pop the surface. You need some ventilation too, try a 120x38mm pc fan at the top for exhaust. They are more expensive but generally push a lot more air with higher static pressure.

With the 3 lights it got pretty hot in there.. im gonna take out the 2700 and just have the 2 6500k until I get some fans going.

Yea sorry if that was a noob question, I hate when ppl ask dumb shit but im so used to growing outside I never thought about if they need light to breach the soil.

if i were you, as soon as those seeds come up you should run them on the 12/12 light cycle. It will keep them short since theres no veg time, but they'll still produce buds and fit in your sub box.

edit: also you should move those lights as close to the seedlings as possible, they should be about 2 inches from the seedling itself as soon as it pops so that it gets the maximum light and doesn't stretch.

Im gonna put the pots on boxes so they will be alot closer to the lights.

Well good news today, I woke up this morning and all 3 seeds have sprouted!! I gave them some water and stuck em in my windowsill for the day. Now I have them in their permanent home, the grow box. I took out the 2700k bulb because of space and heat issues. I plan on letting these babies veg for about a week then im gonna put em on 12/12. This year has been good so far for cannabis!!

yep, they live, especially as small plants aren't too heavy and hot. How long were they siting on the plants, is the burn damage bad?
