Would really like to know how much they´ve actually done testing on different configurations. It looks nice and differentiates from the crowd. Maybe it works ok too.

I should have my advanced xml in 2-3 weeks (fingers crossed) and I'll be doing a comparison journal with it against my new apache tech unit.

Ha! I wondered the same thing and they told me they actually improve airflow and its not just a gimmick...the original diamond series runs cooler than the extreme flower series so I imagine the xml will run just as cool if not more so.

puff or I can tell you the specifics of the panel...........or subscribe to their newsletter and you'll get the discounted price email(w specifics/pics) of the panel..........looks bad ass

Don't get too hooked on the wattage of the individual LEDs. Those "8 watt" LEDs are just 8x1w arrays so you're still better off with the 3w diodes even if they're being run at 1.5w (penetration wise anyways).

I'd guess sometime in July? They were announced as a presale with units shipping at end of june. Based on the presale price of the xml vs last years diamond presale price for the 200w, I expect the xml to be priced in the $500-550 range.

Edit: yeah puff its pushing through the panel because it says it has a removable(washable?) dust fan cover on top of the unit(has to draw air through the dust cover)...........I want pics puff!!!!!!ha

yeah I know... funny though about the busybee 8W Cree... they claim it's a 630nm, but I am not finding the product on the CREE website... and their picture makes it look just like what gastanker said... an 8 x 1W array... meh

at least with the new Advanced light, there is an actual CREE product referenced that is a true 10W module... (they only come in whites... )

My only issue with this new advanced panel(if their is one) you have 4 10w xml's and the rest is 3w leds(bridgelux?) how are going to manage the height requirements.....too low and 10w will be to much(maybe?idk really)but the three watters will be emitting the right amount....... if you raise up the panel due to the 10 w light intensity the three watters maybe to far out of range........hope it makes sense, I like uniformity across the whole panel, but who knows........no one tested these 10w xml's on mj yet(oh sorry/steveman did:P)...........will see

As shown in Figure 4, this high-bay luminaire design has sixteen XLamp XM-L LEDs
arranged in a closely spaced 4 x 4 rectangular array. To handle the high power density
we used a special copper MCPCB from Rayben.5 As shown in Figure 3, where a typical
MCPCB has a copper trace layer and a dielectric layer to transfer heat to the aluminum
base layer and on to the surrounding environment, the Rayben MCPCB in this design
has a “micro heat exchanger” (MHE) layer to transfer heat to the copper base layer and
offers greater heat transfer capability. The electrically neutral thermal path of the XM-L
LED makes this possible.
