Anyone else sick of hearing about "Cali" weed ?

i find it hilarious what passes for fact in some circles.
a few years ago my buddy moved to san diego for a year and all he talked about is how much better the weed was and how much he couldn't move and it was everywhere and blahblahblah.
when he moved back i shared a joint of some real decent shit and he said, "wow, this is local weed?". he was all tore up even coming off the magic cali bud.
he never did have much of a tolerance to begin with and he smokes like a 5 year old girl, so big fucking surprise he never built up a tolerance from all the magic cali bud that he claimed to have smoked all day every day.
we discussed it every which way and we decided that the whole attitude is just more mellow out there, and is more conducive to relaxation and good vibes in general. now that i grow the dude can't even finish a full joint of my stuff. he got swept up in the hype like everyone else. is chiesel grown indoors in cali automatically better than chiesel grown indoors in massachussetts? anyone who answers "yes" to that is the reason why bud prices are so fucked up and customers are so easy to manipulate.
just because there's more of it doesn't mean it's better. it simply means that you can always find something else to suit your tastes/needs, and the consumers are a bit more savvy, so the made up strains/stories hold less weight. the market is better, not the herb itself.
even if you argue that cali has more "special clone only" strains, it still doesn't make those strains any better than what someone might breed themselves in their basement on the east coast. just because a million people call it the best doesn't make it so. i've actually had dealers try to screw me because they had that "cali weed" when it was garden variety dank. i'm supposed to pay more because it came from cali instead of arizona? when the seeds came from the same breeder? seriously? no wonder some of us have to pay 500 an oz

I think Cali have mj steroids in their soil. lol but I do believe cali have MORE good quality than Texas not better but more. I've had some dank dank dank in Texas and also a shit load of good bag look and smell dank af but can just be some alright. but to get some of the best smoke in Texas you absolutely HAVE to know somebody who has good bud or you just going to end up with Mex bud. as where in Cali if you wear a tourist shirt with a mj leaf on the back you can get some bomb within the 2nd street you walk down... and I think Cali do have the best price as I go down there in the summers and get $20 eights and sometimes less.!!! and it always be dank.!

I thought Californian's were full of it when it came to pot. Then I went to Amsterdam and smoked a bunch of shwagg... Great hash but terrible bud. Not sure how representative their coffee shops are of their bud but California pot is definitely magnitudes better than the stuff I smoked over there.
I would assume there is good bad and ugly everywhere. Some of the best CA bud I've ever smoked was in Louisiana... Seems we export alot of the best stuff we grow.
There are good growers everywhere. But there are just more growers in general in CA - statistically they are going to have a large % of the better bud.

coming from cali, being called "kush", doesn't matter. it's just a way to promote hype in places with less selection than cali. people think cali weed is better, so if you're trying to rip someone off, and you say it's kush from cali, idiots are going to drool over it when it's just some bagseed from a bag o' crap you grew yourself. i understand how the black market works, but the "cali weed is better" myth drives a lot of nonsense in markets with less selection. it's like calling something "dro" and acting like it's the second coming when you haven't said jack about the herb itself.
people will pay 500 for an oz because they live among crowds of stupid people who are also willing to pay 500. it doesn't matter what bogus back story the herb has.

The Dutch strains are from Cali to begin with. A lot of them are anyways. I live in Cali and am not proud of the fact or the weed we have. I grow my own and most of the strains I grow have nothing to do with Cali genetics.
That said, this is a very important cannabis growing area and have had a lot to due with advancing strains and growing knowledge.

that was 5 years ago. the lagality of it now has allowed for a lot more experimenting and a lot more crop. cali weed has gotten danker than u think in the last 5 or so. plus u have to concider that they are used to what they are smoking no matter where they live. so when they get something exotic to them its almost always fire.

I dont ever commit to the ladies. If I didnt have any, I wouldnt smoke. If I got really bored I could always hit up a buddy to borrow an oz till next harvest, there is always love in the community.
