If you would like to refute either statement, feel free to provide evidence or simply an argument based on common sense. I don't need charts and graphs to have a conversation, as some do.

it would be a deterrent for you? really? that implies there was a time or two when you were considering a capital crime. i think what you mean to say is "i imagine it would be a deterrent for me" but it doesn't hold up to anything as you have no idea what your mind would be like while plotting a capital crime.

and how can you speak for everyone else and state that the absence would not be a deterrent? can you speak for everyone else and state that they all prefer to sit and rot in a cell for the rest of their lives? no, you can't.

I believe that sending the message that murdering someone can be an appropriate punishment is contrary to the results we wish to obtain by doing so. Violence begetts violence which begetts violence. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Punishment at a certain level is an illusion and becomes simple vengence. Vengence is something we are hoping the criminal system will reduce, not endorce. And capital punishment has been statistically shown to not be effective as a deterrent to capital crimes.

In my state of inebriation, I was wondering what honestly makes you so angry, upset about homosexuality. This is me being frank and sincere, I'm honestly interested in your response. This isn't me trying to set up a question so I can argue against it, I'm seriously just curious. It always makes me wonder what difference it makes what another person does with their own personal life. What's it matter to you?

Think of it like this, say a person is a pilot, somebody else being a pilot has not bearing on your own life right? So why does somebody else's sexuality come into play, especially when you don't know the person personally?

There needs to be some higher level of proof required in order to kill someone. Executing an innocent person is murder and the government shouldn't murder people.

The death penalty should only be used when there is no possibility of innocence.

I agree and when they do have a kiddie raper/killer caught with DNA they should waste no time in dispatching the perve (IMO).
