All this talk about out of control spending is just a republican campaign to distract us from the real problem, the wealthy elites profiteering at the expense of America.
The fact is that the American government doesn't spend an unusually large amount of money in comparison to other governments around the world. That whole argument is a big lie. In specific, our federal government spends an unusually small amount of money compared to other governments.
If you've been told spending is the problem you're being lied to.

They seem to think all they have to do is keep repeating the lie that our government spends an unusual amount of money that it will be come a fact. When it comes to total government spending the US is in the lower middle of the pack. If you limit that to economic powers, we are at the bottom end of the pack. If you talk about federal government spending only the US ranks 141 out of 160 measurable nations.
But never mind the facts! Just repeat the phrase "out of control spending" enough and everyone believes it, statistics be damned!

Well lets see ... the nation is 15 TRILLION in debt now, with Obama increasing that debt by 4 trillion in just the past three years. Yeppers, our government is a real miser. Hardly spends any money at all.

you can credit him with $787 billion, most of which ended up in our pockets as tax breaks.

The debt is a measurement of how much more we spend than we tax, not just a measurement of how much we spend. The fact is that we spend less than most countries, but we also tax less two, especially when it comes to large corporations and the wealthy.
Many other countries spend much more than we do and do not have massive debt. We didn't have massive debt until we decided to stop taxing the wealthy.
The crazy thing about this is that even if proof is provided that our government spending is not above average, you'd completely ignore that reality and keep repeating the same false rhetoric.
I really don't understand. What do you get out of repeating that lie? Why even bother?
Statistically the top 20% of earners in the nation pay 40% of all the income tax in the country. The US has the highest corporate tax of any country in the world, we just happen to put in loopholes that the biggest most profitable companies can use to get out of paying most of it. You could tax the wealthy 100% of income and you still couldn't pay off the debt, not even close.

That video is very cute, but it's also extremely deciving. When right wingers talking about "income" of the wealthy they are only including paycheck income + bonuses. It is not including stock, dividends, investment, or any other financial industry related income. That makes up ~90% of the wealthy's income. Not exactly a minor detail he's leaving out there. He's under exaggerating the wealthy's income by a significant amount.
I also notice his "math" puts the estate tax at 50%, which is a lie. Those are just the false numbers I know off the top of my head. I'm sure if I looked up the rest of his "math" it would also be a pack of lies as well. So yeah, that video is pure bullshit. Just because a guy makes a youtube video doesn't mean he's telling the truth. That guy is not.
And they control ~70% of the nations wealth right? So they are receiving 70% of the total financial benefit from the American economy. They should be paying 70% of the taxes.
Sure, but if you taxed the wealthy at a higher rate (not 100%) and INCLUDED taxing their financial transactions without loopholes, you could balance the budget and start paying off the debt in a healthy economy.
There really is nothing you can do to pay off the debt in a recession like this. Even if we disbanded the army we'd still run a deficit. That's typical in recessions due to the lack of revenue generated. But in a healthy economy if we started taxing the wealthy we could balance the budget and at least start paying off debt.
