those cotton ball lookin things is foam..it also looks to me that your water level is a bit to high..it should be atleast 1" below the net pot especially with a root structure like those.

ya i made my tea in the fridge way too cold, choppin and starting again at this point :( Probably move to a diffrent thread for new plant, but brewing my tea in the fridge made it way to cold bennies never woke up so i just fed the root rot a bunch of sugar lol

mer so i started again and about a week later. spike. im using the tea. Now Im remaking my system and doing some figuring out. Im baffled as whats wrong or how im making my teas wrong or horrible wrong? Im going to buy a comercial air pump, use my old ones for tea, get a much more thick darker contain ( i still think mine is near 100% light proof), expensive air stones. perhaps a water chiller (recommendation?) I will due a thorough detail of my next set up. i dont even feel like taking pictures of this. Im going to use tap water tomorrow and more tea for the mean time.

You'd be surprised what problems you'd avoid with The VO Grow :blsmoke:

Real buckets with real net pot lids, maintained, works wonders.. but if you can DIY the right way, I say go for it.

Hey Bubonic I noticed that your buckets/res's do not have the same covering or metal tape that it has on the top as the sides. Just curious as to what you have around the buckets for light proofing. If it is duct tape you may want to use the HVAC (metal) tape on the sides as well. I am not saying that is your problem but I hate to see you spend more on a system if you can fix what you already have.
Not to sound condescending or trying to make waves but if I were you I would switch my nutes to chem based and skip the organic until you get the hang of hydro. Sometimes it really is easier just going back to the basics and running a really simple system. Good luck and happy growing.

You've had some effed up luck on these plant bubonic. i've never seen anything like it (that's not really saying much).

I've been growing in DWC for a little over a year. Started with Emily's Garden and a 150 watt... i've moved up a bit since. I've had none of the problems you've had. I know that doesn't help you. But when I look through what you've done and just knowing what I've done (and believe me, i've screwed up plenty), it seems like the additives and gizmos, tubing and wires are just in your way right now (figuratively).

You seem like a pretty intelligent person and you've done your homework. My advice is keep it simple. Super simple. In fact, oversimplify! I over-thought things at first, too. PH, EC, TDS, RO, DWC, LST... you get the picture. Info overload. I wish I had a few of the toys you have, yet I've managed to keep myself happily medicated and the wife mostly appeased (she really hates that I grow). I started with brita-filtered tap water, lucas, superthrive and bud candy. that was it. didn't do too bad. Switched to RO and AN (i only use a few of their products that i can afford), love it! The only thing electrical in my space is the light, the fans, and a dual-outlet air pump. Simple.

The point of keeping things simple is you have way less to troubleshoot when things go wrong. Start with a good foundation with only the basics. Then start employing your badass pumps and kickass teas and whatnot. Don't get rid of them, just get them out of your way (for now) so you can grow!

AN's Sensi is 2-part like lucas but their stuff is PH buffered and it works amazingly - perfect for RO. I really only need a PH meter if things start to go sideways but they haven't. When they do,I can call AN and they'll help out.

I hope this helps you and you don't get discouraged. I apologize for the lengthy post in your thread and wish nothing but the best.

thanks for the kind words HobbyGrower72 and kush not bush. I have a new job which requires me to work 10-12 hour days so im going to be dropping some money into things, My system will consist of a simple idea, Im going to buy a R/O system, commercial air pump, Exspensive air diffuser, perhaps 3-4 thick black plastic 5 gallon buckets with 6'' net pots. I want a reservoir chiller but not to sure how to make a RDWC system, im actualy liking water bottles. Im also looking into c02 but might try the c02 buckets? Also I want to try and find a automated ph and or ppm controller. Price isn't much an object haha ;) I've also thought about a large tool box heavy duty storage container of some sorts if i found somthing to fit to make a large dwc res ( 20-30 gallon or more). Most likely to invest in a tent as well, perhaps a hps, but then i'd want a water cooled inline haha. Fuck you think I would have a plant by now! I put the other seed that took when i germinated two and its doing better then the hydro now! i put it in the chamber, although i dont like to have dirt and hydro in the same room, but what ever right. I'm really putting in no effort into finishing this grow but more effort into study what went wrong and how i cant prevent or improve on it. I hope I can get back to things soon, if this random dirt plant with dirt from two dead house plants works haha I'll take some pics, there is perlite and a few wood chips in the dirt so it may be alright, but I've never study up much on dirt..

I am with HG on this bro, seriously a DWC setup without recirculation will work good for starting out that way you can sort of experiment with each plant individually. Also if your going to spend money on CO2 don't waste it on those buckets, get a good controller and a bottle if your running a tent or a burner if your going to run it in a full room. As far as the diffusers go I wouldn't bother but that's me, they are too expensive and IMO don't work better than two of those 6 inch air stones. If money is no object I would get a good tent like the grow lab but for the money the Secret Jardin is pretty damn good too. If your going to run CO2 why bother with the water cooled? To me that is just more shit to go wrong, also you should consider 600w hps for your tent they are really IMO the most efficient.

Don't take this the wrong way but you can throw all the money you want at your grow and never accomplish anything but spending your dough. If I were you I would start simple and work your way into the more complicated stuff like organics, recirculating, and using chillers. Don't get discouraged by anything I have said either because with enough research it WILL work out for you. Good luck and happy growing.

Ya I kind of like the frozen water bottles, and those are the two tents I like the most as well (growlab secret jardin, I was thinking those c02 buckets seems expensive and a good c02 controller would be nice. I'm probably going to look around for the best possible light proof container i was thinking some kind of 4, 5 gallon buckets, but the only black ones i can find are online and paying like 50 bucks for 4 buckets is insane i'll check out some more local paint shops. I want this thing to be a marvel haha I also think 600 watts is prime but i would probably get a dimmable ballast for start and a changeable bulb.

I recently broke down an old window A/C. Got 2 water barrels with foam board between. Carefully bent the tubing so that one side produces cold water, and the other side, hot water.

Then I use the core radiators from Danger Den. (6" x 7") Also, I have planned a 2 side solenoid valve, to shunt hot or cold water to the radiators. It's all in my journal. The A/C can't freeze 100 gals of water but the hot side can get too hot.

So, I add a DIY water cooling mini-tower for the deep summer duty. Hot and cold running water. Water is 40 times(?)
better than air, for moving and controling the joules.

Wish I could send you all the buckets I have left here, I don't even use them anymore besides storing junk and hauling the occasional water for a soil plant.
