Does Grinding Decrease Potency?

Does grinding up your weed and keeping the ground weed for a while decrease the potency of the product?

Depends if your using one with a kief catching then maybe very very slightly due to the dried tricomes that fell oiff during grinding. But no worries after using that grinder a few times, you'll gets some delicious rewards that you can put on top of you're bowls
So i say its well worth the 1-2% potency decrease. Which is only temp because your still reusing the product.

It losses less potency than if you were to break it up with your hands, so unless you just plop big pieces of nugs in bowls (which I do sometimes) then no.

lets put it this way


i have never cleaned my grinder, but i always clean my hands.

If im breaking up by hands im just washing away any trichs on there...

my grinder collects what would normally rub off onto the bottom.. and the walls/teeth collect keif over time... but walls and teeth will only collect so much until it starts falling off when it's added on...


so with my grinder im at the point where ANY amount of keif that sticks to the wall, will just result in other keif falling back onto my product. If keif STUCK permanently, and never fell back onto the screen/grinded bud... then I would have 4 inch keif walls protruding from the walls of my grinder


Also, I have a few vials full of keif from my keif compartment...from the last year or so of grinding.. i dont sift... and I dont notice any decrease in potency we are talking very very small amounts here people..

My grinder has a little kief screen and chamber in the bottom. Works pretty good. If you really want to go to town buy a 100 mesh screen and make a little box. I used a square tupperware type container with lid. I cut a hole in the top of the lid a little smaller than the size of the screen. Now I duct taped the screen to the opening. Pour your weed into the container, put the lid on, turn it over and shake over something you can use a razor blade to collect. I use a big serving plate, but a flat piece of glass or mirror would be ideal. I think a 12" X 12" screen was around $20 on Ebay.
