3 gallons is perfect I have mine in biodegradable pots put in my holes filled with my soil mix. I grew autos last year in one gallon pots and you really cant expect more than an eighth from each plant maybe a little more and I got tht from those and the roots didnt even fill the containers.

The weather the past few days has been pretty ruthless on all of my plants. I picked a really shitty day to transplant, right before a week long storm. Anywho, the RD and DV that are in the ground are looking great, it seems as if every time I look at them they seem bigger. I wish I could say the same about the other 5. The SLH looks healthier than before actually, maybe it likes being in a bigger container. The other day when I checked on them from a break in the storm, all of the water bottles I had put over them as small greenhouses had flown away due to the heavy wind, knocking all the plants over except the SLH. The gigabud wasn't even this lucky however, it was uprooted and was lying on the ground. I replanted it as soon as I found it but I really hope it hasn't already died.
Here are some pictures of the red dragon and dolce vita. Something has definitely been eating them, but I have no idea what it is. Will someone please help diagnose what this might be? The first pic is of the red dragon where the damage is obvious, the second is of the two plants (closer one is dolce vita further is red dragon), and the third pic is of the dolce vita plant, which doesn't have much damage at all but a little on a lower leaf. Thanks guys!

The weather is looking nice today, it has been sunny all day with temps around 80. I started LSTing my DV today, pics attached in this updated. Nothing really to update besides this, everything is looking great (at least I think..). I'm gonna feed them another dosage of rootbastic as soon as the soil runs dry. First pic is of the Red Dragon, second pic is of the Dolce vita ~7 hours after being tied down, third pic is right when I tied it down, fourth pic is right when I tied it down at a different angle, and fifth is another pic about 7 hours after tied down. Comments and criticism are welcome!

I know it's been awhile since last update, but the plants are vegging and I don't want to bore people to death, here's an update with some big growth (atleast in my opinion). Still not too sure whether I should top or do something to them. Watering them thoroughly once a day because of this hot, hot weather. However, it's soon to get hotter. We'll see how the gals like it. The first pic is a side profile of Dolce Vita, second is a group shot of the two (DV on bottom RD on top), and third pic is a side profile of RD.

FINALLY! An update with pictures of plants other than just Red Dragon and Dolce Vita! All of the plants are looking great, so far I think the best growing plant is a definite tie between the purple haze and cali hash plant (the two five gallon buckets). Unfortunately, these are both regular seeds so they could possibly be males. They both have actual branches with multiple sets of leaves on them, I think this means I will be able to sex soon, right? The RD and DV are looking good too, but compared to the others in the pots that get 10-12 hours of direct sunlight per day, they have big spaces between nodes on the main stalk. I think they're really stretching for sunlight, so I'm thinking I might as well just not top? Here are pics, a reply from someone might be nice? Or is nobody watching?

Hey, you should definitely top them, it keeps them small and bushy and increases your yield. Cut off the top node and in a few days you'll see what a good idea it was. Top while they're young, and you should end up with 4 main colas.

Thanks for the reply beantown! It makes having a forum thread seem a lot less boring when people reply. Its nice to know atleast someone is watching. I've read quite a bit about UB's topping technique, and some FIM guides. I think I'll do it on a few plants just to see how the cut makes them grow compared to untopped. I may do this today, pics are sure to follow!

FIM'd both the RD and DV this morning. Here are some after pics of them. I really hope I did this right.. I guess we'll see in a few days time. First pic is DV, second is RD.

New growth is supposed to emerge from the part where I made the cut, right? It's been 28 hours since the original cut was made. The plant seems like its branches have grown a bit from the past day, but there isn't any new growth coming from the cut. I'm probably just impatient and expecting it too early haha.

FIM'd the rest of the plants today except the SLH. I topped one of the 5 gal buckets (either purple haze or cali hash plant, I think purple haze) right above the node and it's become a lot branchier, although one of it's leaves is yellowing at the bottom. The SLH is looking much better than it previously was (see earlier posts) it's now growing up, although the leaves are still super skinny and unhealthy looking to me (I think it's just the most sativa of all of my plants?). So far everything is doing well. Will follow with pics of RD and DV in a few days, to see the growth from the 25th!

The 10 gallon buckets got mixed up, either Super Skunk or Gigabud.

The 5 gal buckets, either Purple Haze or Cali Hash Plant. The one on the left is FIM'd one on the right is topped. I'm nearly positive the one on the right is purple haze (the purple haze had stem support issues, and the one that's topped has like a sideways base that turns up).

And last, but hopefully not least, is the SLH. It's looking better each time I see it, I hope it keeps this trend up.

Looking at it more and more, I think the FIM on the RD failed and is only growing 2 tops. The DV is looking good like it has 4 shoots growing up, but I'm not really sure. Does anyone else have input? I'm kind of guessing, never done this before...

Haha, what gives you the impression I don't smoke? Yea I worry quite a bit about them, but I bet all the attention helps them out. Not too mention how cool it is to see what I've been reading so much about for the past few years actually take place, and experiment with it. Thanks for the advice man, I'll keep those tips in mind. I've checked them at night with a light a few times, so I'll definitely stop doing that, haha! Thanks man!
