looks like you still need more time. the way a bud forms is by the hairs shriviling and get compressed into a bud. another thing you want to take into consideration is the power of the magnifying glass. 30x will get close up. from afar all trichomes look white or clear. with a powerful magnification the trichomes should be cloudy white.

Ok these are better pics. Maybe these will give you guys a better idea of what im working with. If it still sucks I will just pic up one of those 60x babies from radio shack.

Thanks for the help so far.

From those pics they still look kind of clear but it hard to tell. I grow mainly indica strains so there always ready by 8 weeks, but from what ive read sativa dominate strains can take up to 12 weeks to finish so Id say you prob have another 3-4 weeks. Best thing to do and this is what i did is to buy a 30x pocket microscope from and electronics store or off ebay like I did for $8 then you shouldnt have any problems telling weather your trics are clear cloudy or amber.

listen to the people telling you to get a cheap microscope like the one from radio shack that is like $10-12... With a good 60 times magnification is is easy to tell. you can also see the amber spot in the center long before it would show up to a magnifying glass or camera lense, so you can get a better idea of how long you have.

Alright, these peeps are babies, those last pics are good, on most of the pics you are about 55-60% clear still, your original thought is right I would guess 2-3 weeks, but keep an eye on them it could go faster. What type of plants are they (sorry if you posted already)...good luck JR

You need a better scope man. 60x-100x at radio shack for 10 bucks. Works great and you can see the trichomes as if they were a foot long.
Spend the extra buck for results.
Good luck, bud looks good from what I see.

do you have a camera with like 3x optical zoom? i took a pic of mine with that and the camera was only like 6 megapixels. when i imported the pics to my rig, i could zoom in quite a bit and see the crystal color/shade. it wasnt great but worked better than a magnifying glass. i really need to get a trich scope.

These are still clear and need some time. You'll notice not only the head will turn cloudy, but so will the stalk its attached to. You may get some trics that go cloudy then turn purple or even red befor they go amber. If you step back from the plant and look at from 2-3 feet away, you can tell when there cloudy cause the bud will look "frosted". As it matures you'll notice it start to turn from white and shiney to a golden white. The best advice I ever got was " when you think its ready, wait another week." Hope this helps.

given your pics, i say mostly clear trichs.

listen to the other people : hold out & wait.

save some money too whle you wait and get a scope on ebay.

i got a 100x / 60x scope for $6 shipped to my house.
it's a cheapy but works great.

Thanks for all the replies! I will definitely get one of those scopes and wait a little longer.
