Ideally you want the strain that will work best for your medical condition, that is unless the card is a scam just so you can grow your own pleasure pot. If it is legit research medical marijuana and your condition(s) and see what is recommended.OK... so ideally I would want the following:
1) Energetic high (sativa right?)
2) durable plant (im kind of new to growing)
3) responds well to topping
4) and a high THC %
So what are some strains I should consider?
please advise

You say you are getting a med card but you say high thc, high thc, high thc like a 12-year old all excited about getting high off a drug rather than an adult searching for the best medication.
You seem to be researching far more for the best buzz than for the best medication.
Most people who hang around these sites are not med patients, and many are kids, that are in search of the Holy Grail of pot, the ultimate high, but the ultimate high does not equate to the ultimate medication. Asking a bunch of still wet behind the ears stoners what medication you should take makes less sense than asking the Dr. you went to, to get your card how often you should have your septic tank pumped out and if it presently needs to be pumped.
Some of the people that might answer or have answered your questions are people whose main requirement to become and them remain employed is to be capable of saying … uuuuhhhhhhhhhh, do you want fries with that? Do you want that SuperSized?
Why are you asking people like that important medication questions, if true medication is being sought? Just because they have computer access and were capable of finding tokers hideouts online, and because most likely at least most actually grow, that once they found sites like this they were magically and mystically transformed into the equivalent of a pharmacist if not an actual Doctor and have become experts in medical marijuana and the various medical ailments that are helped by what types of strains?
You will run across some med growers and a few actually proficient growers now and then on sites like this, more on some and less on others, but a lot of what you will run across is a bunch of idiot savants minus the savant part, a bunch of people duller than a sack of wet hair, a gaggle of people so dim that they would make a dull normal look smart …. like “Jeopardy” smart …. and you are asking them what ‘medication’ you should grow/take.
All jokes aside, I really hope that if you have some medical condition it is not ultra serious and that you really do and will need to rely on the best most proper choice of medications because from my end of the Internet is appears like you’re a-headin’ down tha wrong set-o-tracks ta git ta whar yer a-fixin’ n’ a-needin’ ta git.
Research your medical condition, research medical marijuana strains .... then combine what you have learned and do not worry about the highest level of THC, the highest level of THC, the highest level of THC because of all the cannabinoids that particular one might not be nearly as important to you as another or some group of others are.
When it comes to any advertised and then repeated claim for percentage of THC keep in mind that percentage is really somewhat like the MPG stickers on new cars and used in car ads and depending on each driver's driving habits, mileage may vary.
For one the claims are not based on the average found from a large sampling of plants grown by average growers so it would represent what the average customer would be capable of attaining. They are pros using ultimate setups growing in very well controlled conditions and then they have the very best of their very best, which is still going to be a number of plants, tested and whatever test registers the highest rating, regardless of the size of sampling, then they say ‘up to ‘X%’ or tested at ‘X%’. Well don’t expect ‘X%,’ to be what you get, especially if new to growing.
At best use various ratings as a half-close comparative. Not one single one of them was carved in stone and handed down from the mountaintops.
I have not had any real faith in them being anything that could be called accurate ever since they changed the way THC testing was done and when it showed very different results rather than broadcast that it was just said that modern pot has become super-pot and is much better than ever, that nothing before compares to what exists today.
When marijuana used to be tested the THC percentage was in relation to all the matter of every and all type in a THC producing trichome head. When they changed that to comparing/relating THC only to cannabinoids and removed all other matter that previously had been factored in of course the THC percentage was going to jump way up. With his ‘therd grade edgeykation’ Jethro Bodine could have figured that one out ahead of time. He could have done some fancy cypherin and figgered all the naughts and gozintas and told them what would happen.
Well no one asked Jethro and the ones who did the testing did not exactly make their changes in how testing was performed headline news and suddenly wunder-pot exists and there are breeders who can now, in the eyes of many growers, walk on water.
I do give a number of breeders a great deal of credit for what they have accomplished. But I also am one that believes there should be some sort of recognition that breeders somewhat gained something of an artificial inflation of their skill levels much like baseball players gained at the plate when the days of the ‘dead ball’ ended and the true hardball began to be used.
If you create a cross and it is tested and the THC percentage levels fall in say the 3% to 7% or maybe the 14% range, like was common in the 60’s and 70’s, your strain would be seen as being a major flop in this day and age. But if a different testing method were to be used on the exact same material previously tested and the results shows THC percentages of 18%, 22% or maybe 26%, growers would deem you a demi-god. It would be the exact same genetics and absolutely nothing had changed or had been improved, other than your status as a breeder changing from being a zero into instead being a hero.
I do not want to diminish the part that some truly professional breeders, especially those that have gone heavily into medical marijuana breeding, have played over the years, but their efforts have in actuality been more of tailoring new crosses to fit individual tastes/liked/dislikes than massively increasing the THC percentage of modern marijuana. The change in testing procedure did a great deal of that portion for the breeders. After that they just had to attempt to shoot for a little more than what was then the average when they could tickle that little bit more out and add something else appealing, like maybe being a heavy yielder, or something that tastes yummy and or looks exotic and they had a hit on their hands.
The breeders took all the credit when ‘the league changed from the dead ball to the live ball.’
