Please help! My babies are dying!

Hello,

This is my fist grow... things where going well, 12 hours ago all plants looked great. Green and healthy. I have been watering my plants twice a day (by misting them and their soil, 2-3 sprays each plant) under 5 23 Watt CFL.

I came in to check my plants a few minutes ago and to my horror my just healthy 6 seedlings look like this!

I have no idea what do. Where might I have went wrong? Is there any chance in saving them?

Ambient temp is around 75-78, soil temps are few degress hotter 80-82.

Using Fox Farms happy frog soil, in 1"x1" plastic inserts.

I have over $100 invested in seeds alone, and I have a lot riding on making this grow a successful one. Please help!

you need to lower your lights, for the ones that fell over get a straw cut it a lil bigger then the stem so you can stick it in to the dirt use it as a brace. You can also put a fan in there on low to help make the stem stronger...good luck

The plants that stretched did so when my lights where higher. I have had them 1-2" from the plants for the past several days now... Everything was doing great, now my plants all look significantly worse then they did just 12 hours ago... Now they are yellowing, and appear to be wilting?

And I do have an osculating desk fan running in the room.

over watering will cause a condition called damping off goggle it. could have been from heat or the soil can be to hot with nutrients ,have you checked the PH of soil or water ?

The soil is mud, and stop misting until your plant gets healthy....looks like water overload to me...draw a ring around your plant about 3" out from your stem ,do not water until soil changes to a light color and you must be able to have a loose top soil... water with a 1 shot glass only....within the circle... once you've done this 3 times, you should be able to moisten all your soil ...and do so from the outer edge of your container rather then like b4 within the circle ...this will even your moisture!And by having a wetter perimeter it makes the roots seek the moisture and promotes strong growth...also like mentioned b4, the fan not only helps circulate air and temps.... it strengthens the stem ...be careful of too much of anything just like in life a balance is found ...not in a day but through an by a journey...Enjoy your quest for balance and growth.... How do I make a ring 3" out from the stem when the plants are in 1"x1" plastic inserts?

Would the fact that I am using Fox Farms Happy Frog soil for my seedlings cause some sort of nute burn to occur?

Thank you all for your advice. I have them propped up. I stopped misting them and fed them a shot glass (50ml) of water (PH7) each. My CFL's are moved up, around 2"" from the plants. I will let the soil dry before watering again. Anything else I can do to help them recover?

OK...I'm not trying to be a prick or anything like that but did you not read about anything before you started to grow? What ever possessed you to put your seeds in 1" x 1" fuckin plastic inserts? Did you read up on that somewhere? how do you expect the water to drain out of that? It really burns my ass that people plant seeds and when the poor seedlings are almost dead you come in a forum and want people to help you. Why did you not do some reading on what to do before you started anything?

The "inserts" I am talking about are planting tray seedling inserts, they are 1"x1"x3 1/2" or so and came with the Hydrofarm Hot House I purchased to germinate my seeds.

With that said, this is still my first grow... even though I have watched about every grow DVD out there, and read a number of growing books, no amount of study and research can replace hands on experience.

This is my proposal for your course of action:

First off stop watering !!!!!!

let the soil dry.

once the soil is decently dry transplant the seedlings into your final grow container. 1 gallon per foot of growth you want to acheave (personally i use 2 gallon buckets and my girls are 28in tall when all said and done)

it is ok to transplant now. just be sober and be careful. if the soil is dry pop it out and pace them in a 3-4in hole in the new gallon bucket. take handfulls of soil and fill in arounf the seedling, go ahead and burry a solid 2 in of your seedlings' growth. it will set you back on your vegitative timeline but it is well worth it in the end!!

once transplanted go ahead and wet the soil, dont drench them they will be fraigil.

for the next 5 days one shot glass of water each everyday.

after that give them a cup of water every other day. growth slowes after your transplant for about a week so dont freak out, but it has to happen sometime, thats why you should transplant into your final grow container.

Check out my grow journal, i transplanted at the age your at and all went smooth.

Good luck and QUIT WATERING SO MUCH !!! MJ doesnt do well in wet climates, the shit grows in the afganistan and shit.

So...you spent $40.00 on something you don't need.----wise decision.What grow video did you see that in?

Well, perhaps I wasn't 100% honest in my previous post, I didn't buy it just to germinate seeds, I bought it mainly to create suitable conditions for root propagation in clones, and also because I figured it would be handy to have to germinate seeds in occasionally.

I actually used the paper towel method to germinate the seeds, and placed the plate with the seeds and wet paper towels in saran wrap, and then into the hydrofarm hot house.

If you want to share advice, that's fine, but keep the stupid judgments and assumptions to yourself. Better yet, go spread your stupidity in another thread.

Thanks man, I will do just that. I greatly appreciate the advice. I have read so many different and conflicting recommendations about how to water seedlings I didn't know what to do. Its good to hear advice from someone that had a similar situation.
