it wont spin smart ass lol it will rock back and forth thats itI think your plant will be spinning and get dizy.
so this set up will work then in theory? i just like to think outside the box and do things differentThere were guys talking in another thread that said as long as you submerge the bottom of the pot in the water with the airstone running you will be fine.
I have never grown DWC but I think the pump is redundant. The roots are submurged in oxygenated nutrient solution, I don't get why they need a pump running water over a few inches of root.

would it even be considered dwc at that point if ther is no current? im assuming dwc is an acronym for direct water currentI think it will work just as well as not having it.
You can get a pump for 12 bucks at petsmart if you are concerned.
I am going to try DWC soon without the water pump, just the airstone.
what if there was no airstone in the res and it only rocked? would that still work? theres sorta a current at least there is some movement

I run deep water with just an airstone and I have no problems at all. I have only been growing for a little while but my set up is this. I use 20 gallon rubber maids with 3 plants offset, up to today each tote was lit with 150 hps over each tote. all I use is a 6 inch airstone on a tetra3 airpump. I have been able to yeild about 7 ozs off of each plant. today I added 400 more watts to the room. I fill the tote full with cutting edge nutes and I leave it alone untill its half empty. then I top off for one week then I drain out completely and refill with cutting edge again. and when it is 3/4 empty I top off with just water for a week to two flush. I cam post some pictures of it will help but it is so simple and hasn't let me down
