Ok i have looked on a few threads and i still aint answered my question fully! for one i will probably have bad luck and end up getting 1 male out of 2 plants! I am wondering what is the purpose of the male? Is it just to make seeds? And if i did get a male plant i wouldnt be able to throw it away like. Is there anything i could do with it? Or would it just wreck the female? Please ans these questions it would be much help to me. I am just dreading having to throw away a weed plant like its a sin to god :)

takes a boy and a girl. when the boy plant pollinates the girl plant. she makes seeds to have babys. girl plants with no seeds is what you want to smoke. males don't do a thing for you.

1: Males produce no buds and nothing worth smoking. 2. Males will pollinate your females and make your buds' quality much poorer by making the females make seeds.

yes it will take a toll on the buds, it will ruin them as you will be making a seed crop.'

seeds are made the same way babies are made basically, seeds are the off spring of two plants 'mating' to put it extremely simply. If you want more let me know.

Dank sensemilla is grown from un 'pregnated' mothers. If your asking what to do with a male plant, and you know nothing about breeding the ONLY answer is, get it out of your garden the moment your sure its male.

Ok thanks for the info it will be a while before i can tell the sex but just wanted to clearly no what to do with the males IF i am unfortunate and manage to get 1 or maybe even 2 out of 2. One more question if i manage 2 get 2 males would i be better off to let them keep growing or just dispose of them and start again? Is there any part of them that will be any good to me at all and keep in mind im still learning so as much info as possible would help. thanks..

Don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean anything personal, but how old are you? The whole male+female=seeds thing is a pretty basic concept. Again, I don't mean that in a rude way.

the male does not produce trich's. the trich's come form the bud on the female. I can't read but thats what the pictures said.

maybe with 200 acres of hash plants that are male and female you can still beat it for the hash. one plant. HA what a waste.

males do produce trichs.. the just dont produce any bud structure.. you get a bunch of trich covered leaves on stems... believe me... ive had someone try to sell me a male plant before and pass it off... males are good to make hash with... but thats about it...

I just goota ask. If male plants don't produce trich's what good are they for making hash?

i said they DO produce trichs.. they DONT produce bud structure.. males plants are just stems, leaves, and trichs.. thats why they are only good for making hash..

If your a begginer and you just aquired 2 seeds then listen up. (***THIS ONLY APPLIES IF THE 2 SEEDS ARE THE SAME STRAIN***)

If during flowering you notice one is male and the other female, then I suggest you do the following; keep the male for 1.5 weeks after you notice its male, then kill it.

Why? The male will produce pollen which will, in turn, pollinate the female. The result is female bud that will contain seeds, but since your only keeping it for 1.5 weeks, that will not necessarily mean the female will be overrun by seeds and that the bud is crap, it will just be less potent. (But you'll still get high smokin it ;-))

I say BIG FUCKING DEAL, you live and learn. You will have gained more by keeping the male for 1.5 weeks because depending on how long you vegged for, you'll be sitting on possibly 50+ seeds coming from your female plant.

Why is that good?

Cause most seeds end up female anyway, as males are quite rare. So your next grow will result in more females.

*You would have just turned your 2 seeds, into possibly 50 females on your next grow*:bigjoint:

ok, But as I understand it the bud/flower produces the resin and trichs and since the male doesn't produce the bud how does it produce trich's. I have looked at male plants and not found trich's. I'm not saying your wrong just looking for some proof that what I read and have seen is wrong.

ok.. first you have to break it down.. resin is produced as a defense for marijuana... the buds produced by females are actually the flowers... this i am sure you know... so the resin is produced to protect the flower until it is pollinated.. same holds true for a male, but just not the pollination part... males continously dump pollen throughout their life during flowering.. they produce trichs in the same fashion as females to protect it... just because it doesnt have flowers, doesnt stop it from protecting itself... they want to survive as long as possible to spread as much pollen and pollinate as many females as it can.. this is way in afghanistan they just grow large fields of whatever they turn out to be sex wise and use it to produce hash... they use the males and the females both since its just for hash.. now the males do have considerably less trichs than females since the surface area the trichs cover is much less on a male than on a female since the males dont have the flower structure the females do.. but they do produce them..

I did a search and found one artical that said males produce a very small amount of thc. So I guess if I was growing lrg crops I wouldn't seperate the males out. I laso realized I have never looked at a mature male. Now I guess I need to grow a friggin male so I can look at it. sheesh.
