The best way is to use power strips and buy the plug-in out lets. They give ya far more flexibility. Also, there are MANY diff things @ each hardware store. Tell the hardware ppl that ya are tryin to build a light fixture fer a home made reptile tank or somethin, they may have some decent ideas.

you can spend even less getting a plugin/ bulb socket adapter at walmart and a dollar store extension cord spend like $3 and build urself a nice mogul cord. It is very wise to use heatshrink and or high quality electrical tape to keep things tgether. i heatshrink then put a condom over the joints and tape it up. For my outdoor stuff. just heat shrink for indoor. solder when necesary. clever ideas up there, i should have thought about hat before i spent $30 on my reflector.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! However, I did not know this until after all my hard CFL work was done fer then
+Rep fer addin to it!

Not bad! Make a tutorial on how ya made it, give me the thread and I'll Rep the hell outta it fer ya!

No problem.

Walmart has almost everything for this build.

2 outlet strips = $3.50 each

6 bulb sockets that have a 2 prong plug on other side = $1.50 each

1 2" x 2" X 20" board

6 26watt 6500K cfl's = $8 for 3 pack

Reflector I salvaged from a flourescent light retrofit kit. Cut to fit. (already had this)

I just attached plug strips to 2x2 wood, 90 degrees from each other.
Put plug in sockets, 3 per strip in every other hole.

Screwed reflector to top of wood board and bent it to the shape I wanted.

I will try to get some better pics for you tonight.
