When Depp gets pulled over in the desert by that cop and he gets questioned and says:
"Yeah, I know. I'm guilty. I understand that. I knew it was a crime, and I did it anyways."

i think bill murray did a FAAAAAAAR superior job than depp did...

needless to say though, i loved both where the buffalo roam and fear and loathing

i dont know about that but Where The Buffallo Roam was funny as hell too , Hunter puts rum in his dog's water bowl lmao

i like murray better than depp just because depp was so excentuated and alot less angry, ya know?

he might have been citing some of thompsons personal feelings and such, but what i read from HST is an assholish almost arrogant kind of guy. (dont get me wrong im not trying to insult his character, thats just how it seems to be portrayed to me in my own interpretations..) bill murray just seems to fit that glove more ya know?

Johnny lived in Hunter's basement to research the character for the film.I thought what he did was awesome...he told a story about hunter shaving his head with a hat with a light on it for the film.I get the impression they enjoyed many drugs together.Johnny even arranged to have Hunter's ashes shot out of that big cannon he wanted for his funeral.

He became a kind of surrogate son to Hunter S Thompson, too. When plans for the film of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas came together, Johnny moved in with Hunter for weeks at a time, living in his basement, studying his moves, taking notes, wearing his clothes and just talking, talking, talking for hours on end. “I think he probably stole Hunter’s soul,” says Gilliam. “He’s like a vampire; he was up there for ages. Each time he would come back from Aspen with more bits of Hunter, more talismans.” Finally, Hunter let Johnny drive the red shark – the Chevy convertible they used in the film – through to Las Vegas.

dont get me wrong im not shamming on depps preformance it was quite a show!

it just didnt really show his assholeish side enough for me? if that makes sense..it made him seem more like a goon? idk i think that will be interpretted wrong...i loved his preformance, i just prefered young murray is all..plus that cannon shooting..phenominal and i didnt know depp had his hand in that pot. that's decent.

Yeah, they seem to have really become good friends in the end.He became friends with Del Toro eventually too, but I heard at first he didn't like him one bit...said he was no Dr. Gonzo...but then Del Toro mentioned how would Hunter like a pop in the nose or something...I read that somewhere,I liked the movie so much I did a little research on it.I get what you're saying about the seeming goony...that's kinda why I liked it, it was humorous. Both guys, IMO, should have recived Oscars for their performances.
